Terry Francona is encouraged by reports on Daisuke Matsuzaka.
"His first day down there," Francona said, "he did the shuttle - that was the stuff he missed when he was in the (World Baseball Classic), and if you think about it, if you go down to Fort Myers in the middle of July at 7:30 in the morning, and the first day you run the shuttle and the second day you run the mile-and-a-half, he did a good job. We’re really proud of his effort, and he put in another good effort today. I could think of more fun things to do than to run a mile-and-a-half at 7:30 in the morning by yourself." Dice-K was placed on the disabled list on June 21 with shoulder weakness. He has an 8.23 ERA in eight starts this season.

That is encouraging news, just don't hurry him back, that would be a bad mistake. He's definitely not had the year that everyone was expecting from him, and if he gets fully healed and rested, he should be able to at least return to being close to what was expected.

Well that was the Dice-K that we know and love. Some more of that would be very nice for the Red Sox. And huge come playoff time.
