On the Adam LaRoche deal: The Red Sox have been searching for ways to upgrade their sliding offense for weeks. This deal has been on the table for three weeks, and after losing their fourth straight game on Tuesday and declining to trade Clay Buchholz for Victor Martinez, Theo Epstein took LaRoche.

That's a tough call right there.

Smart move. The only player on the market I want to trade Clay for is Doc.

Unless you have him in a package for Halladay (doubtful in that it's been reported that Riccardi is not high on Clay), I think you have to make this move. This allows you to get a huge bat you need and he would fit in with the Sox.

Martinez plays 3 games at catcher and 3 games at first a week. That allows Tek and Lowell to save their legs a bit and they bring in a better bat anyways.
