Top 10 Moments of 2007 Season

Post#1 » by SportsWorld » Sat Jan 26, 2008 8:31 am

My Top 10 Of 2007:
10) Lee grand slam vs White Sox. His first at-bat after an injury. Almost Kirk Gibson-like and against our biggest rivals.
9) Cliff Floyd vs San Fransisco. Cubs down 1-0 all game until the 9th inning. Floyd leads a 9th inning 5-run rally by picking up 2 key RBI's. Cubs win.
8) Sam Fuld ivy catch. Probably the defensive play of the year. Fuld caught the ball at the ivy and threw over to first completing the double play.
7) Cubs/Brewers September game. Cubs win on Lou Piniella's birthday. Thanks Linebrink for the bobble. Bob Uecker (Brewers radio announcer) was in the Comcast booth during that 7th inning after singing the "7th inning stretch". He sounded like he was dying in the booth.
6) Lou ejection vs Braves. The day after the dugout fight Lou went off on the 3rd base umpire kicking his hat and kicking dirt on the ump. Aquafina sums this up best: http://youtube.com/watch?v=D5aFFxgWRRc
5) Zambrano/Barrett Dugout Fight. Had to mention this one since it turned around our season.
4) Cincinnati Game. Horrible umpiring in that game. Cubs sucked it up for the first 8 innings (Almost identical to the Milwaukee game). Cubs down 2 in the 9th. Theriot leads off with a walk. Lee singles to right, Theriot to 2nd. Aramis hits a gapper into center field. Norris Hopper just misses an amazing catch. Lee and Theriot scored. Reds walk the next batter but choose not to walk DeRosa. DeRosa hits a line drive to 2nd which was bobbled. Sam Fuld (?) scored from 3rd. Cubs win!
3) Colorado Game. Big lead going into the 9th. Looked like we were going to win easily. Colorado comes back to take the lead. Cubs nation explodes in anger. Fan rushes Howry from the stands (Turning point of Howry's season). Cubs with a late rally. Cubs Win! Cubs Win!
2) Cubs clinch. Cubs beat the Reds. Padres beat the Brewers (Thanks Maddux and Greene). Cubs celebrate....last time they did that in 2007.
1) Aramis homer against the Brewers in June. Biggest series of the year to that date. Horrible game for the first 8 innings. Looked like we were going to lose. Lee almost went deep the batter before Aramis. Loudest I have ever screamed.
Milwaukee Radio Call: http://www.greystonesbaseball.org/Mil.mp3
Pat and Ron: http://www.greystonesbaseball.org/PatRon.mp3
Len and Bob: http://www.greystonesbaseball.org/LenBob.mp3

Honorable mentions:
Tomahawk Chop at Wrigley
Soriano 3 Home Run Game vs Braves
Ward's grand slam vs Cardinals
Lee's 8th inning homer vs Astros
Carlos Zambrano booed against the Dodgers
Soto NLDS home run
Ward walk off against Nationals.

Thoughts? I know I am missing some things I just can't think of them right this second.

August 1st, 2007 vs Philadelphia

This was where the wild pitch lead to Murton's score, and the Cubs were alone in first place for the first time that season.

Howry almost getting attacked by the fan should be up there.. Remember Len going off on how it is a felony? Guy is such a tool.

Also, Ohman's 20-30 feet curveball game should be up there as well.

Cubs like to choke games away against the Mets. Just blame it on that black cat.
