Cubs interested in Willits?

Post#1 » by SportsWorld » Mon Feb 18, 2008 8:17 pm

It's from a Brewers board so don't look into it too much

I will keep you posted, but I did just talked with someone I know who was John McDonough's (Cubs former VP) assistant who is still there and he told me that both the Willits and Roberts deals are hot right now and would be surprised if one of them is not done by the end of the week.

Names he told me the Cubs are willing to trade are Cedeno, Theriot, Gallagher, Fontenot, Marquis, Dempster, or maybe even Pie. Cubs AA former first round pick Tyler Colvin could be in a package as well.

I apologize for being a Brewer fan who knows someone in Cub hierarchy, by the way. Living in Chicago makes it tough to know any Brewer contacts.

another rumor to throw into the fire. If the Cubs do trade Theriot and Cedeno (i doubt both but you never know) and get both Wilitis and Roberts who plays SS? Does that mean Roberts will be switched? I don't like that idea. But I do like it better than Cintron playing there.

Willits is better. Neither will ever have any power, but at least Willits gets on base.

Why? Theriot isn't good.

Theriot is a sparkplug type of guy and a firecracker player. He isn't dependable enough to be a significant part of any team, but as a 2,7,8 hitter, he isn't bad when your not expecting big things.

well i guess im the only one that sees the potential in theriot. i still want him to be our leadoff. he just needs to be there on a consistant basis. i thought he did very well at leadoff when sori went down. then when he got moved down so did his numbers.
