Mark DeRosa voiced his frustration with the Cubs' ongoing trade talks on Friday.
"I feel like I've done enough... where I shouldn't be put in this position. Hopefully Jim and [manager Lou Piniella] realize I'm one of the best hitters they have and my bat should be in the lineup." DeRosa does have a decent bat, not one of the best in the lineup like he seems to think, but he is a fine hitter. What the Cubs are looking for with these trade talks, namely with fellow 2B Brian Roberts, is a speedy leadoff hitter; something that DeRosa certainly is not.

I guess this trade is pissing everybody off.

Eyre headed to the DL

MESA, Ariz. - Reliever Scott Eyre's elbow soreness will force the Cubs to put him on the disabled list at the start of the season, opening a spot for Sean Marshall or Carmen Pignatiello.

"We don't think Scotty will be ready," manager Lou Piniella said Monday. "Hopefully he is, but we're probably leaning the other way."

Eyre had X-rays taken of his left elbow on Monday and was scheduled to visit with team orthopedist Stephen Gryzlo. Eyre declined to comment until he is examined, but said he has not had the injury the entire spring.

good thing we wasted all this time trying to get Roberts and not a lefty arm like a lot of people have been suggesting.

I only got to hear Kasper's voice cracking. Sounded good off the bat.
