DeRosa does have a decent bat, not one of the best in the lineup like he seems to think, but he is a fine hitter. What the Cubs are looking for with these trade talks, namely with fellow 2B Brian Roberts, is a speedy leadoff hitter; something that DeRosa certainly is not.
