CHICAGO -- Cubs reliever Scott Eyre has yet to throw off a mound while rehabbing in Arizona and will not be activated when his time on the disabled list is up next week.

Eyre was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 23, because of inflammation in his left elbow. He has been able to play catch.

Meanwhile, Carlos Zambrano was able to throw his side session on Thursday and is on track to start Sunday against Houston. Zambrano had to come out of Monday's game because of cramps in his right forearm.

He saw a kidney specialist on Tuesday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the medical staff has recommended Zambrano cut back on the amount of caffeine he drinks. That means he has to stop consuming as much Red Bull and coffee.

LOL

And with Eyre's situation, the good thing is Pignatiello will pitch a lot more and that will hopefully improve his game.
