In a heartbeat but the Brewers overusing CC scares me going into next season plus the sale of the Cubs won't be finalized before CC goes on the market.

CC is a workhorse an I don't think his excessive use will have any effects. That said why try to go after him when you can sign Dempster for probably $10 million per season less? Let the Mets go after him and they can finish second in the NL East and Wildcard again.

A million times (more like 10 million times) yes. The list of 30+somethings that have career years the year they enter FA and then never come close to touching that year is a lot higher than the list of guys who win CY Youngs in their 20s and can't sustain it.
Dempster had a great year, but so did Russ Ortiz, Carl Pavano, Bronson Arroyo, Mike Hampton, and countless others before they crapped out. Dempster also has a history of arm trouble and I don't like giving him major money.
The only knock on Sabathia is his obvious playoff struggles and you have to wonder if thats overwork (he usually pitches 230+ innings before the playoffs) or just poor mental makeup.

A big hell no to Sabathia. He will command $22-25 million over at least 5 years. The chances he stays healthy and dominant over all those years is incredibly slim. Pitchers are just too volatile to give that much money to, especially one with CC's body type. He WILL break down, it's just a matter of when.
Dempster for half the money is better value, though I wouldn't be crushed if he left.

lol at still wanting Roberts
don't know about CC, it will take a king's fortune in duct tape alone to keep his arm on, not to mention his salary

I think CC wowes the last couple of seasons have been the fact that his teams have needed 120% of him to even make the playoffs. He was gased when the Indians played the Red Sox last year and this year he had gone on three days rest for something like 4 or 5 strait games. He's a horse but he was due to lose it and of course he did in his one playoff game. I think if it were a different situation like you guys had last year where you had a nice lead and could sit some guys would have gone a long way to recharging a guy like CC. Bottom line, it all depends on the situation but he has proven he can pitch on short rest and get you into the playoffs, something very few pitchers can actually do.

Cubs trade sure to raise antennae in Baltimore

Just speculation.

The Chicago Cubs just traded second baseman Mark DeRosa to the Cleveland Indians, and you all know what that means.
Well, you don't really, but some of you are asking if this means that the on-again, off-again trade talks involving Brian Roberts and the Cubs might be on again. The Cubs just signed versatile infielder Aaron Miles to a two-year deal, and he can play second base, but it's fair to wonder if the big-payroll Cubs will try to recover more of the offensive production they just sent to Cleveland.
Keep in mind, however, that the Cubs are on the verge of dealing pitcher Jason Marquis to the Rockies to get some payroll relief and are thought to be close to signing outfielder Milton Bradley to a three-year, $30 million contract. That could mean they are trying to revive the Jake Peavy deal rather than the Brian Roberts trade that fell through a year ago
Just speculation.
