That was honestly the worst at-bat I've ever seen. Not one pitch was even close to the zone. I award you no points Alfonso and may God have mercy on your soul.

This team is not going to the playoffs this year and if God forbid they go on a huge run to end the season and the other Wild Card teams suddenly pull a Cubs, they still would go down in the playoffs like they did the past 2 seasons. Just be optimistic for next season. Changes are coming and they'll be for the good.

Why even watch if you give up the season? What's the **** point?

Because we're not pseudo-fans, we are fans that know that this team is no good. Is there a slight chance to get in?? Mathematically, yes there is but I'd put 100/1 odds down right now that it doesn't happen. Does that make me less of a fan? No, no it doesn't.

Why do people still watch the Detroit Lions and Washington Nationals? Because they enjoy the game and still root their team on.

You are going over the top a little bit lately with calling out posters for just calling it like we see it.

I watch games because I like baseball and I like the Cubs. At this point though, I'm not emotionally involved in games like I was the past 2 years.

Sure it's not realistic at all to portray us with a good chance to get in the playoffs but to be advertising it and telling us all to give up hope is just kind of pissy.

I admire the never give up attitude. Frustration after this game got to me quite a bit as I though with Torres pitching that we should take this game.

We need to take 6 of 7 at some point and I've been pining more than most that we have the wild card chance there for the taking if we can accomplish that winning streak. For the record, I've never told anyone to give up hope. Fair enough.

It's not just you though. It's the combination of Spinnin House especially, you and Sports world that just have endless pessimism. It just gets a little bit irritating to have people treating it as if we absolutely, completely suck balls. People act as though we have an 100 loss team while this is just a mediocre, team with the potential to win 90 games. Things just haven't come together this season. No one could have predicted that we would have had tremendous injury players from some guys who rarely go on the DL, Soto, Soriano, Fontenot, Miles would all blow up offensively this season. People also want to pin things on Bradley while although he was pretty mediocre in the first half, he's done pretty well in the second half and that irritates me. That Theriot gets to go for 2 weeks of offensive suckiness and complete loss of an eye at the plate and continue to field poorly and everyone at Wrigley still seems to absolutely adore him because he's a grits guy. (Not getting on your case, Kerr) Every frickin good player in baseball works their ass off and they don't get loved for it. You don't think Bradley has worked his butt off to get to a point where he's a respected, solid hitter and regular player for five different teams and plays well in the postseason, has a struggle in the 1st half, gets booed by a group of about 50-60 fans that make sure they get heard and probably indeed call him some, let's put it "choice" words, he calls them out for it and he's the most hated player in the city of Chicago. Sorry for the rant in advance.

Milton Bradley isn't hated as much as he is at Wrigley on these forums. I hate Soriano 100X more than I hate Milton Bradley. I would like to see Milton back next season. People are upset because this team was supposed to win the NL Central in a cakewalk and now we're 10 games out and 7 out of the Wild Card. This team is underachieving by a lot and people have the right to be upset.

Yeah but to treat it as if we're absolutely horrible and godawful is too much. How many other teams (Mets in their own separate category :D) had (1) their best hitter who had barely ever gone on the DL go out for 2 months of the season, (2) a rookie of the year catcher who is a good hitter, smoke pot, get out of shape, and suck at the plate, (3) a former 40-40 player just 3 years ago absolutely tank, have a lingering injury destroy his performance, (4) two solid infielders also absolutely tank at the plate, (5) their ace pitcher who had one previous dl stint in six years, go on the dl twice, (6) have a solid closer who had closed successfully for two previous years for whatever reason completely implode in two weeks' time and this is just a basic list of all of our freak flaws?

How again does this explain why the Cubs don't suck?

The Cubs don't suck. They're an average baseball team. That explains why they've been hovering around .500 all season. Horrible hitting, good pitching.
