Push back Z's next start

Post#1 » by GYBE » Sat Sep 22, 2007 1:59 pm

Instead of starting Sunday at Wrigley, Lou should move Z's next start to Tuesday in Florida. My argument is simple.

Home ERA: 5.27
Road ERA: 3.26

He's the bizarro Ervin Santana. We need to stop thinking of Z like an ace and pitch him in situations he's performed the best in.

It would make sense, but they already made the rotation moves (pitching on 3 days rest) to set-up two more starts on full rest for Z and Lilly.

He could still get two more starts on full rest if he pitched Tuesday. He definitely wouldn't be available for Game 1 of the playoffs, but I'm more worried about the division right now.

Now's not the time to mess with the rotation again. Pitch Z on 3 days rest and then the next time he pitches is on 5 days rest? I don't know how much "routine" goes into his pitching, but I wouldn't mess with it any more than they have.
