Who's Your MVP Of The 2007 Cubs?

Post#1 » by SportsWorld » Sat Sep 22, 2007 5:57 pm

Same poll as in the Daily Herald this morning.

Results from that poll:
Mark DeRosa 41.12%
Ted Lilly 23.36%
Aramis Ramierz 11.21%
Ryan Theriot 9.35%
Alfonso Soriano 7.40%
Carlos Marmol 6.54%
Jacque Jones 0.30%
Bob Howry 0.00%

Response:
WTF? How is Derrek Lee left off this list and how is DeRosa our MVP.

Personally for me it is a tough choice between Aramis and Ted Lilly and you could make a case for Soriano, Marmol, and Lee too. Even Jacque Jones deserves a mention since he is a big reason why we are in 1st with his hot 2nd half.
I am going to go with Ted Lilly since he had low expectations going into the year and now he is our ace.

Aramis, and it's actually not that close for me. He's been our best batter AND our best defender over the year. Marmol would be my 2nd choice but his 60 innings pitched isn't a big enough contribution.

I seriously hope you were joking about Jacque deserving a mention though.

I was kind of joking. With the 1st half he had he shouldn't even be mentioned but he has been on fire ever since the all star game.
Jacque is still the worst one on this list though.

Aramis, not very close for me either. The strides he's made defensively just elevate him further, his bat is second to none. He is without question the guy I want to see up when the game is on the line.

Yeah, maybe a bit shocking considering Soriano might be the biggest name on the roster nationally, but A-Ram has had so many clutch hits this season and has been fairly consistent. Without Aramis I don't think we'd be sniffing first place right now.

Not surprised with Alfonso. There are so many options, and out of hitters, it's probably going to go with Aramis 1st, and Alfonso 2nd, Derosa 3rd. Pitchers would be Lilly/Marmol.
