I don't get it. Why do they call it Actober? B/c october.com was already taken?

Regardless, I don't like this sort of thing. This year's Cubs are not as good as some of the teams that have bit it in the past 20 years. I don't like the cockiness of pretending that this time they're made of different stuff, alluding to the possibility of winning the World Series ("99 heart-wrenching years on the wall could be reaching a finale"-- bleah).

But then, you already know my superstitious perspective. Others' mileage may vary.

Actober is the promotion MLB is running. They have their own site www.actober.com
They have done a ton of Actober commercials for other teams:

I see. So it wasn't just for the Cubs. That makes it a shade better. On the other hand, the spots for the other teams generally didn't sound as cocky. And on yet another hand (I'm like Shiva over here) I find it pretty annoying that the same guy is doing each of these spots-- doing spots for teams that're directly competing, as with the Cubs and Brewers. Yeah, that's real sincere.

So it's not overly confident Chicago fans or promoters putting this out; it's a big corporation that's trying to whip up commercial demand for its product, whichever teams happen to make the playoffs. That's annoying in its own way.

Before I said "bleah." I'll amend that to "feh" (but not "meh"-- I feel too strongly for that).

No offense intended to you for posting it, Sportsworld.

I find it pretty annoying they got this guy to do any TV work.
These ads have been going on for a while now, and I was wondering if or when they were going to do a Cubs spot. I never wanted them to, becuase I thought it would jinx them. But it got me a bit pumped up to tell you the truth. :rocking:
