SW,

who has looked good among the contenders trying to make the roster (pitching wise) and who has looked bad. Do you think either Cotts or Lahey make the roster as a lefty or will Marshall become the other lefty? Or are we going to have to trade for one?

Here are the boxscores so far:
February 28th- @ San Francisco Giants Win 12-6 (1-0)
February 29th- VS San Francisco Giants Loss 8-6 (1-1)
March 1st- @ Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Loss 6-2 (1-2)
March 2nd- VS San Francisco Giants Loss 8-6 (1-3)
March 3rd- @ Seattle Mariners Win 6-5 (2-3)
March 4th- VS Milwaukee Brewers Loss 10-6 (10 Innngs) (2-4)
March 5th- @ Arizona Diamondbacks Loss 5-4 (2-5)

Ascanio has looked good so far and I think he is going to end up starting the year in the majors although he did pretty bad yesterday. Kevin Hart has been the most impressive pitcher so far giving up just 1 hit all Spring.

Basically everyone else has sucked it up. Lahey got the blown save today. I'm a little worried about our pitching since that has been the main reason why we are 2-5 right now.

I'm heading off the ST here tomorrow, and will be at the Cubs-Brewers game on Monday. I'll give you guys my observations of Los Cubbies on my return.

Some news and notes from today.
Aches and pains: Alfonso Soriano tested his right hand by throwing during Wednesday's workout in Mesa. If all goes well, Soriano could resume hitting this weekend. He's sidelined with a nondisplaced fracture in a finger on his right hand.

Third baseman Aramis Ramirez has been pushed back, and was expected to play on Friday. He's been sidelined with a sore right shoulder.

Mark DeRosa took batting practice on Wednesday for the second straight day, but wasn't expected to see pitching until the early part of next week. He isn't expected in a game until the middle of next week. DeRosa underwent a procedure last Thursday for his irregular heartbeat.

"I'd like to get these guys in the lineup here in the near future and see what this team looks like," Piniella said.

I love it when the Cubs don't do well in spring training.

Cubs split the split squad today losing one of them in the 9th inning. I really hope this isn't what our season is like (losing games in the 9th inning.

It was Shingo Takatsu who blew the save, so I wouldn't worry much.

Cubs are currently playing Kansas City. They lead 1-0 and Dempster has pitched a scoreless inning.

What a long 3rd inning for the Cubs bats. Still only one out, 5 runs have been scored, and Cintron is on second and Pie is on 1st.

6-0 Cubs.

Whether I like it or not, it looks like Dumpster has landed a spot in the rotation. :(

We outhit the Royals 21-2. There were a lot of other positives from today's game, especially our 3rd inning hitting. I think Pie was 3/4 with a walk.

Yeah he sees the ball real well. Too bad for him we got a guy named Derrick Lee at first. lol

I thought Pie played really well today but also, i thought Kerry Wood pitched a great inning.
