My backup plan is to trade Cedeno and Murton for Khalil Greene, but there are no indications that San Diego would be willing to do that kind of a deal.

... My ideal lineup posted again ...

1. Roberts
2. Fukudome
3. Lee
4. Ramirez
5. Soriano
6. Derosa
7. Soto
8. Pie

Best lineup in the National League to go along with one of the best pitching staffs and deepest bullpens.

Cedeno is better than Green.

There is absolutely no way the Padres would pass on that deal.

Green is abysmal at the plate.. Pretty sure he put up about a .275 obp last year.

Part of that problem is Petco Park, which is a pitchers park. Away from there he hit .288 with a very impressive .519 slugging percentage. He is a power hitting shortstop and could hit 30+, which is an upgrade over Theriot. His defense is also much better than The Riot's.

Yeah I would love to get Greene, but it would leave us even more thin in the OF.

I think the O's want Marquis because he is an inning eater and they certainily dont care about his contract, they are about to get a bunch of low payed prospects and arent gonna be looking to sign any big time FAs anytime soon.

Dear Cubs,

I hit .293 last year with an obp of .371. I could possibly be last years MVP. Can I start at second base next year?

Sincerely,

From another message board, Crane Kenney was on ESPN 1000...

Talked about the renovations to Wrigley, auctioning off the 70 new seats, & the Cubs are working on 2 big trades & both are close to being done. Also gave Chicagoplayer a shout out near the end of the interview.

Oh and Bull I would like DeRosa to play shortstop, he is fully capable. Even if he is decent there, it's an upgrade over Theriot's defense. If we get Roberts that is.

Two BIG trades?

Roberts and who else is the other guy? I'm expecting a pitcher...

So I'm guessing we're going to trade the mentioned players for Roberts, then we're going to package Hill with other players for a more consistent pitcher.

Am I wrong? Did anyone else hear anything else?

I missed anything significant, but I'm listening them talk about Wrigley Field and how they would not object to a new jumbo-tron.

what posey reported at the top of the page is the only news during the broadcast.

The other stuff was political sales stuff.

They will sell the field first, then the team, then the advertising stuff.

I am thinking the Cubs are going to get Roberts after the Bedard trade and the other trade is going to be either Byrd or Greene.

There are your 2 trades, personally I would love to get all 3 of them.

What a lineup we would have!!

Assuming we are keeping Soriano in the leadoff spot:
1. Soriano LF
2. Roberts 2B/SS
3. Lee 1B
4. Aramis 3B
5. Fukudome RF
6. DeRosa 2B/SS
7. Soto C
8. Pie CF
9. Pitchers

What happens if we get Byrd or Greene, how would the lineup go?

I think Pie and Murton is gone.

Murton is gone for sure in one of these trades. Hendry likes Pie but he will probably have to be traded as well. Gallagher is a goner as well in one of these trades. Hopefully Hendry can get a bargain though and keep Pie.

I doubt at this point that Pie would be involved in any deal that isnt for a solid 2 or 3 starter. Neither Byrd or Greene would command a prospect like him and if they want him for roberts I pass.

Brian Roberts is a great hitter, but at this point I would rather get Greene, who actually has a position we need an upgrade at, instead of making Roberts or DeRo play SS. And if they are really sold on DeRo playing super sub then again I dont think its worth it to do addition by subtraction with him moving to the bench.

We have a pretty good offense as is (granted its not Brewers good) what we dont have is depth at SP. Outside of Z (who is as inconsistent of an Ace as they come) we are pretty much dont know what we are going to get.

I dont see how E-Patt, Murton and Cedeno cant get us Greene, they are supposdely high on Murton so make a deal jimbo.
