wow, wow

i went to bed after the 7th, had a little hope but mostly left them for dead - pretty surprised when i saw the results in the morning

wood and lester are getting a lot of buzz (deservingly so) but i feel like contreras isn't getting enough love for his role - if he isn't hustling down the line he doesn't breakup a routine double play and the game is over

I think we all felt the week link in the staff would be Hendricks and he's been amazing. Gave us even more than we needed tonight.

I don't know a lot about Joe Smith, but like the deal. With Smith, Wood, Montgomery, Nathan, Strop, Rondon, and Chapman I really like the way our bullpen looks.

Yesterday's game was fun too! Looked like batting practice out there at a few points. Worst case we don't lose any ground, but we have a chance to put the Cardinals way in the rear view.

Tonight was painful. It is completely second guessing, but maybe they should have put Rondon on the DL. Then they could have sent him on a rehab assignment to get back his feel before throwing him out there. That 5 run 8th was painful to watch. It was even worse after having the bases loaded and no outs and getting nothing. Still 12 up in the division and 4 up for best record in the NL, but the game being blow like that stings since Rondon is generally very reliable.

Bryant for MVP and it isn't really close. Arenado a distant 2nd then Rizzo, Seager and Murphy in some order 3-5. Cy Young I've got Hendricks as the #1, MadBum 2nd and Arrieta 3rd. I have Syndergaad, Cueto, Scherzer and Kershaw lumped 4th-7th right now. If Kershaw can get to 160 innings he probably wins it, but he's gotta get back fast and make 5 starts so it seems unlikely.
