You've grown to despise me? 'cause I'm a pessimist. Or, depending on how you look at it, a realist. But I've suffered for this team as much as anyone out there. Probably have suffered a lot more than most of the guys on this board. And IMO, the Cubbies clinched in part b/c of fans like me who refuse to tempt the baseball gods by getting too happy too soon.
 
Say what you will, but baseball breeds and nurtures superstitious types. Mark Fidrych, Turk Wendell and me: it's not just a coincidence.
