your so optimistic .. however this season and the next couple of years is done in terms of winning a championship or maybe even the next decade.. the blueprint now is to rebuild, i've been saying this since after we got swept by the dodgers.. rebuild rebuild rebuild

Another decade, really? The Cubs were 66-96 (last place) in 2006. The next season they won the division. The point is the combination of adding a few pieces via FA/trades, bringing up players from the minors, and just overall players producing better can happen to any team, and it does. While we do have a bunch of crappy contracts to deal with, that shouldn't limit the Cubs to a proverbial suicide. We have a crappy bullpen, a decent rotation with our best guy IN the bullpen, an aging manager, and under-producing hitters. Those things can be fixed.

And for what seems like the first time in ages we actually have top ranked prospects producing in the minors. I like what the ownership is doing. The future isn't bleak except for perhaps the immediate future.
