My sources have told me that the deal is being held up on the flavor of chips that Angelos is demanding in return but to expect it done by Wednesday.

MESA, Ariz. -- The Cubs still want to add at least one hitter by Opening Day, but multiple high-ranking team officials shot down Internet and radio reports this week that trade talks with the Baltimore Orioles regarding second baseman Brian Roberts have resumed in recent days.
In fact, one team source said Tuesday that the Cubs and Orioles haven't talked in more than a week and the sides are no closer to a deal than they were when camp opened -- which is not close at all.
General manager Jim Hendry wouldn't address specific teams or players but said reports that things are ''heating up'' with any team are wrong.
''There have been no active talks in any trade situation in the last five, six days,'' Hendry said. ''We will continue to scout all the teams in Florida and Arizona, and if possible we will try to improve our ballclub by the end of camp.''

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Orioles and Chicago Cubs have not had any recent talks about All-Star second baseman Brian Roberts, pushing the potential deal toward Opening Day or beyond.
Despite engaging in trade talks for more than three months, the two teams still have not agreed to a package that both find suitable. According to two baseball sources, the Cubs have offered infielder Ronny Cedeno, pitching prospects Sean Gallagher and Donald Veal, and one other player for Roberts, but the Orioles are holding out for a better offer.
The talks are at a standstill while scouts from both teams evaluate the players on each other's roster. The Cubs, who are looking for a leadoff hitter to set up the middle of their lineup, have had at least one scout at every game Roberts has played this spring. Dave Engle, one of the Orioles' top scouts, went to Mesa, Ariz., to observe several of the Cubs' prospects.
"Our scouts are out and about doing their due diligence and watching the teams that they should be watching," said Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail.
STRIKE TWO -- Bird Land: An official of one club that has been in touch with the Orioles and Cubs predicts the Orioles will trade Brian Roberts to Wrigleyville in the third week of March. The most likely package continues to be Roberts and Jay Payton for Sean Gallagher, Ronny Cedeno and at least one more prospect.
The Orioles also have been telling clubs they'll add at least one more veteran starting pitcher before Opening Day. Translation: Kyle Lohse, if they can keep Scott Boras' asking price within reason.
At the moment, the Orioles are planning on Steve Trachsel as their Opening Day starter, just to take the heat off their younger pitchers. Which leads us to this question: What's the last team to start a free agent who signed a minor-league contract on Opening Day? If you can think of one, let us know, at uselessinfodept@yahoo.com.
