Cubs get 2 prospects; presumably the Cubs will kick in chunk of almost $5 million owed to Fukudome. Deal likely done by gametime today.

don't know anything about the two prospects, but here is a blurb from the tribune-

"In return, they received Triple-A right-handed reliever Carlton Smith, who has a 4.50 earned-run average, and Class-A outfielder Abner Abreu, who is hitting .244."

ramirez's mentality makes no sense at all. the team is going nowhere if it's stripped or not, so why would huge sale make a difference? :roll:

We could see more moves through waivers this month. I can't for the life of me figure out what A Ram is smoking. This team isn't going to be in contention next year, and he's really not in the team's plans beyond that (I hope).

Derrek Lee has 2 HRs in his Pirates debut, including one off of Kerry wood to trim our lead from 4-1 to 4-3 in the bottom of the 8th.

Cubs pulled it out, 5-3 last night. I actually hate seeing the Pirates lose, because I'd love for them to win the division, or at least finish above .500 for the season.

That's one I would love to visit, but don't know if I ever will. Other than making a trip to Pittsburgh just for a game, I don't know what would bring me out that way.

Both Colvin and A Ram hit HRs in the 2nd inning tonight. Colvin's went into the Allegheny.

I'm visiting family out here in Virginia and Pittsburgh is kind of on the way home and the Cubs just so happen to be there this week so it works out perfectly.
