I was walking into Applebees to meet the lady friend so didn't bother listening to anymore of it.

Hopefully it happens.. Roberts is good.

Yeah, I have been browsing that Orioles Hangout forum looking for new updates all day today. They have pretty good insiders there who called the Tejada deal hours before it happened.

They are on page 20 now.

O's say no deals today
http://www.examiner.com/a-1116058~O_s_s ... today.html
Rest easy Orioles fans. The holiday season is likely to pass without a major trade. Fan message boards were overflowing today with talks that the Orioles could deal either second baseman Brian Roberts or ace left-hander Erik Bedard by the end of the day. According to Orioles president Andy MacPhail, neither is likely before the end of the year.

Another update from that Orioles board:
http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/ ... hp?t=56654
Just spoke with my guy, please take this with a grain of salt. The other team we were talking with about Roberts is not including names that we were looking for, please don't ask who the other team was because I didn't ask, nor do I care. Now with that said Brian Roberts will probably be a Cub by the end of the day according to my guy. AM has been on the phone with the Cubs and apparently he is going to accept their offer. I asked him if the deal is "done", and he said " it will be". Please keep in mind as good as this sounds as being a "done deal", I have seen things this close change at the last minute. With that said, IT DOES APPEAR BRIAN ROBERTS TO THE CUBS IS IMMINENT.

My next update will probably be a newspaper shooting this down. Stay tuned....

Latest Update:

Guys- I just got busted! My guy has read this board today and figured out my handle name. As of right now- I am no longer a insider. I hope things will cool down in the next couple of days but I will not be hearing anything else. I figured this would eventually happen and I guess I should have been more careful in my posts'. Hopefully I can get back into good standing sometime soon.

Brian Roberts was on David Kaplan's WGN radio show. Kinda odd, isn't it?

He isn't horrible and he was on steroids back in 2003 but he said he quit after one try.
"I would like to address the allegations that were made against me in the Mitchell Report. I will begin by saying that I have worked very hard to develop a good reputation both on and off the field. I have always taken pride in being a man of integrity and values. I know that by being a professional athlete, I am held to a very high standard. I never have and never will take that for granted. However, I am also human and I have made mistakes.
"In 2003, when I took one shot of steroids, I immediately realized that this was not what I stood for or anything that I wanted to continue doing. I never used steroids, human growth hormone or any other performance-enhancing drugs prior to or since that single incident. I can honestly say before God, myself, my family and all of my fans that steroids or any performance-enhancing drugs have never had any effect on what I have worked so hard to accomplish in the game of baseball. I am very sorry and I deeply regret ever making that terrible decision. My only hope and prayer is that the Orioles, my family, friends and fans that have supported me so faithfully will forgive me."

Orioles: Roberts Won't Be Dealt
http://www.realgmbaseball.com/src_wiret ... _be_dealt/
WMAL - Orioles' officials are shooting down rumors of a Brian Roberts' trade in the near-term. Andy MacPhail says there is zero truth to speculation that the second baseman is about to be dealt. He says the likelihood of a trade before the New Year is remote.

MacPhail isn't ruling out the possibility Roberts could be moved in the future, saying it's something that would take time. The 30-year-old admitted to one-time use of steroids a few days after being named in the Mitchell Report.

He made those comments like 4 days ago. That's a misleading title since he acknowledged he'd consider trading him in the article itself. What do you expect him to say "Yeah, we're just about done with the trade but we're going to have to wait til after the holidays since the MLB offices are closed"?

 Yeah, nowhere in the article do the Orioles say "Robert's Won't Be Dealt". The title should state "Roberts won't be dealt in 2007" or something like that.

I'm hoping it does get done. Get a useful player for two years and collect two draft picks when you're done with it that have a chance to be better than the prospects you gave up. By then, a guy like Tony Thomas should be ready, or if he's not, then repeat the cycle and trade for another one with only a couple years on his contract.

ROBERTS UPDATE

Quoted from a quote from a different Cubs board.
Just a couple comments from Bruce Levine this morning:

The Cubs are still very interested in Roberts and he expects talks to continue next week.

The players he's hearing in a potential deal are Cedeno, Gallagher, and either Veal or Marshall.

Levine thinks if the Cubs acquire Roberts, they'd put him at leadoff and ask Soriano to bat down in the order.

Get this deal done. I would like to keep Marshall in the process.

If this is done, this would be the projected lineup-

2B- Roberts
RF- Fukudome
1B- Lee
3B- Ramirez
LF- Soriano
C- Soto
SS- Theriot
CF- Pie

Derosa = Supersub :crazy:

My lineup-
2B/SS- Roberts
1B- Lee
LF- Soriano
3B- Ramirez
RF- Fukudome
2B/SS- Derosa
C- Soto
CF- Pie

Another question that I bring up is Murton. From what Hendry has indicated, he will likely be traded. Billy Beane might like him, and I would like Joe Blanton myself.

i like your lineup. BUT i would switch sori and fuku. i dont like the idea of sori hitting at the 3. he pops out too much. just like lee hits into too many DPs.

I checked out that Orioles board again and they say a Roberts deal has been finalized. Highly doubt this is true but take that for what it's worth.

Here are two pages to read from orioleshangout.com

PAGE 1 - at the bottom of the page, JoeyR5 says he thinks a deal is close to being done.

just go on to the next page to find out what players he says are involved.

That's ridiculous that it's either Fuld or Marshall.

Fuld is borderline useless and Marshall is a solid left-hander with several cheap years left.

I appreciate the updates, but I'm not trusting these guys until it actually breaks.
