We could get "some wins" without any particular player. Z only pitches every 4th game anyway. But in the postseason you have to have a dominant pitcher to fall back upon if things look bad. Z is our best pitcher (IMO). If we can't rely upon him then we're unlikely to do anything in the postseason, even if we get there (unless someone like Lilly becomes an absolutely dominant pitcher who's a lock for a win every time he takes the mound-- that's what it often takes in the postseason if you're not otherwise the best overall team, which we're not).
