Please help me plan my first cubs game

Post#1 » by ChiCitySPORTS#1 » Sat May 15, 2010 3:53 am

I decided to take my girlfriend to the cubs game on tuesday against the rockies. Neither of us are hardcore baseball fans or anything, but I hear a day at wrigley is a fun experience. What I need help with is transportation. I dont want to drive down to Wrigley (traffic, construction, gas, paying for parking, etc.) I heared that you can take the train down to Union and then take a line down to Wrigleyville.

To put it simply, I AM NOT very crafty when it comes to working with trains and public transportation. I live in Schaumburg. We plan on taking a train from Wood Dale down to Union Station. Again, from what I hear there is a train you can take from Union, or a train that you can take that is near Union station that brings you within a block of Wrigley Field.

Heres the part where I need help
- How long are the games usually? ( not counting extra innings if needed)
- Are there trains that i can take home at night, say around 10-11 when the game ends?
- What is the name of the line that I take to WrigleyVille?

Basically I need someone to school me on what to do...I really dont go to the city often, and every time i try doing some research online, i just get lost

Any help will be greatly appreciated !

If you live in Schaumburg you can take the Wrigley Field Express Bus down to the game for just $4 each way.

You catch the bus at the transportation center downtown if you know where that is and you catch the bus at the end of the block where Wrigley is after the game. I never taken the train down there so I really can't help you out with that.

As for how long the game is, it's usually around 3 hours although it can always be a little shorter or longer than that.

Nope you pay the fare as you get on the bus. Just make sure you bring singles. This is how I go to games now since you don't have to deal with parking there. Not sure how it is with construction though since I haven't gone this year yet.
