Gorzelanny vs Billingsley tonight.
I'll be watching my Celtics, but I really hope Gorz pitches well tonight. I'm terrified they're going to remove him from the rotation, which would be completely idiotic.

Yeah he's going to the pen for sure. Can't say I agree with it but he's the best option for the pen.

Nice break for the Cubs there. 1-2 pitch and Fontenot gets hit bringing in a run. 5-2

Bases loaded, 0 outs and the Cubs can only get 1 run and that was a HBP. And this is why the Cubs are under .500.

As much as I like Pat and Ron, I'd much rather actually see the game.

As regards to Gorzo going to bullpen, I'm not so upset about this. Z needed to go back to the rotation and Demp, Lilly, and Wells weren't getting pulled. Until Silva proves otherwise, Gorzo's had some very good outings but some inconsistent ones like this so for now Silva's ok as a fifth starter. We can get some trade value centering around a package of Gorzo, Fontenot maybe, and a prospect or two, we could get a good reliever for that, no doubt.

Just keep Foley in the booth for the rest of the game. I'd rather hear about the Blackhawks than the Cubs.

Gorz has 53 k's in 52 IP this year as a starter. He's been really, really good. Left-handers who strike out a guy per inning should be prized commodities.

And Gorz would be another lefty in the pen. It's a tough decision considering Wells and Silva have pitched fairly well.

I guess that's where we disagree. I don't think Silva has pitched well. He has half the strikeouts of Gorzelanny, eventually these balls are going to land for hits. His BABIP is unsustainable. I'm assuming he'll end up around a 4.5 ERA for the year. That's not horrible for a 5th starter, but Gorzelanny's a better way to use those extra 100 innings that a rotation guy will pitch over a reliever from here on out.
SIlva is the only guy who's above 30 and the only one without a real future on the team. That's why I'd rather just screw with his role instead of yanking around another guy. But a real "problem" on the team is an insane depth of starting pitchers. Because Jay Jackson and Andrew Cashner (and Thomas Diamond to a lesser extent) are all probably ready to start in the majors and there's no room. Hendry should try and deal Silva and Lilly before the trade deadline.

Dealing Silva would be a great idea considering that his trade value will never be as high a it is now when you consider his past numbers over the year.
