Derrek has a no-trade clause and has said before he doesn't want to go anywhere else. But if it's in the best interest of the team I think he would agree to be traded. Though I have no idea who the Cubs could be interested in. We have needs all over the place.

Derrek has been one of my favorite Cubs, but I think we're going to see some of our big veteran contracts moved if at all possible if we don't start winning consistently. No clue who we'd be interested in, but I have a feeling it would probably involve prospects more than anything else.

Who do we really have in the pipeline to even consider at 1B? Call up Hoffpair and platoon with Nady?

Keep in mind that Derrek is from the LA area. I think he would accept a trade there.

Derrick is on the last year of his deal so trading him wouldn't clear out a long term veteran contract. Trading him for prospects would allow us to at least get a few pieces to build with going forward if we know we aren't bringing him back next year. That and we aren't contenders...

I really would like to see nady get in the lineup more and with Soriano, Fukodome, and Byrd all making big money with long term deals he just doens't have a shot to play other than to give one of them a rest now and then. It looks like he's finally back healthy from his surgery. I'd rather see Soriano (although he's been hitting the ball great this year) and Fukodome moved before Lee so we can play Nady and Colvin in the OF but, alas, that ain't happenin.
