Harper goes number 1 overall and is announced as an outfielder.

I haven't followed to draft prospects this year, but apparently after Harper there's not a ton of seperation amongst the players. It's supposed to be a pretty weak draft.

Still, #16 should be enough to get an impact prospect. I'll have to wait until I see who we draft before any snap judgements because for the first year in awhile, I don't have any favourites I want the Cubs to take.

Though I will say, this kid O'Connor sounds intriguing. Some mocks have us taking him. Huge upside high school catcher with MASSIVE power and a cannon for an arm.

I just hope we're willing to spend big on any talent that falls.

Everyone was pretty pissed about Brett Jackson last year and it ended up being a pretty solid pick.

Good point. I wasn't pleased with Cashner initially either (though I thought they'd keep him at reliever).
