Cubs amongst big market teams with bucks too spend will be kicking the tires on Harem.

Just reported that they traded Marmol to the Angels but no word yet on who they get back.

Haren for Marmol. I like it. Haren has 1 year left on his deal so they could conceivably deal him at the deadline for quite the haul if he puts up this year or bring him back if they so choose. Great deal IMO, as they need to fill out that rotation after dumping Dempster and Maholm last year.

They will flip Haren at the deadline and get more for him then they would have for Marmol. The nice thing, if it is Haren, is that they kept their prospects.

Weird. Love the idea. Wonder if its just formality and the announcement was premature or if its truly off.

It's off, guess the Angels decided to just decline his option and pay the 3.5 million buyout. That's unfortunate.

A little concerning that the Demoster to Atlanta deal falls through and now the Haren deal. Dempster was somewhat salvaged and supposedly we pulled out of the Haren deal, but still I'm a little concerned how we're looking on trades under this regime.

The bad news is that Marmol is still a Cub.

Well they will not get anything for Marmol if they trade him at the deadline so that is disappointing. It would have been nice to see a top 3 of Garza, Haren and Samarz. Oh well.

There's always hope for trading Marmol. To the Yankees where he can be reunited with Rothschild who can work on controlling the migraines he likely would have from fixing Marmol.

How about a Marmol for Chamberlain deal with the Cubs eating 4.8 M to make the Yankees agree. The Cubs would have the option of using Chamberlain as a starter or reliever and he does still have upside and youth and minmal salary to this point.

I didn't realize Rivera plans to return in 2013,but at age 43 I doubt he returns at 100 %,so Marmol still has to be an enticing option for the Yankees. He still averages well over a "K" an inning and a 2-1 K/BB.

Really disappointed that this trade fell through
