@MLBStatoftheDay: The Cubs tallied more runs on Monday night (17) than they have scored in all eight of Jeff Samardzija’s starts combined
@ESPNChiCubs: For those asking the Cubs have scored 15 runs TOTAL when Jeff Samardzija has started. That includes after he's left the game

what do you guys think about olt? he's far and away the leader right now for homeruns for rookies, but still below .200 (although it seems he's starting to get it). is the constant fluctuation of the lineup and him (and others) not starting everyday affecting the players performance?

I think that's a big part of it. Young guys are used to playing every day and fighting there way out of slumps. Not having consistent playing time makes them press. I think that's why you see good power and bad average from Olt right now. With where we're at and where we're going there's no reason why Olt, Valbuena, and Lake shouldn't be starting in 5 of 6 games. They both flash in a game or two, then are on the bench and get erratic playing time.
It might not be the answer, but the approach leaves more questions. We should at least have a somewhat set lineup so we can see what it does over a good sample size and make some minor tweaks as we go.
