bryant with a walk-off today, he's heating up just in time for a really nice rookie-of-the-year push

Castro was hitting .100 from the spot that his home run ball was thrown to. Ah I remember when you could count on him to have one of these kinds of games every week or two.

Two of Haren's starts have been against MadBum and Sale. The Cubs scored a combined two runs in those starts. Haren is bad and I didn't care for the move as he wasn't a real upgrade, but I can't blame him for the Cubs not winning those games.

Unfortunately, I think Zack Greinke's numbers at the end will still be too much, plus too many voters still go on name/team finish. I hope I'm wrong. Maybe the Cubbie love pays off.

I was glad to see Arrieta finally get that no-no as he'd been close a few times before. He seem locked in down the stretch.

Good to see a good guy throw a now hitter. In 2008 when Zambrano threw it, it was hard to feel happy for him.

The one thing that Arrieta has over Greinke is that Jake is the league leader with 17 wins. That stat might be big to older voters who value win totals more than other statistics

there could be some vote splitting between greinke and kershaw that could help jake out

Why was it hard to feel happy for Big Z? Buying into the BS scapegoatism that was thrown his way when things went bad? Guy was a solid pitcher and the best the Cubs had for a stretch.

His frequent tantrums in the dugout got real old real fast. I am not saying that he wasn't a good pitcher for the Cubs, but he was a fool! I prefer to see a guy who has had a journey like Arrieta succeed rather than an imature locker room bully.

Z was a locker room bully? A passionate guy trying to win on a team that constantly sucked is hardly an issue. He was a scapegoat. "Fool" or not, he contributed and had more heart than half those Cubs teams he was on.

Yet the Wrigley Fans will constantly champion hot garbage like a Mike Fontenot, etc. It blows my mind.

And the Cubs better sweep the damn D'Backs tomorrow. Have to start winning series down the stretch (and yes, I know they've done so lately). But another sweep over a garbage team would be wonderful. St. Louis should be a battle this week and I'd like to see the Cubs smack around the Phillies in Philly this time.
