Got a winning e-mail for a chance to buy NLCS tickets, so hopefully I'll be at one of these games.

Probably Lester. He'd already be on 7 days rest and then Jake would be on 5. Either way those are the two guys I'd want pitching on the road to start a series before we play 3 (if necessary at home).
Trying to figure who I'd prefer playing. I do think a final 4 of Cubs, Mets, Blue Jays, and Royals sounds nice as its a lot of new blood in there which is good for the game.

That crowd in Toronto yesterday was INSANE.

No Addison Russell for the NLCS.
And the rotation for sure is Lester, Arrieta: 1 & 2, respectively. Sounds like Hendricks will go game 3 & Hammel game 4 still. But nothing has been "set in stone" after the first 2 road games.

The fact that we are 7-0 against the Mets makes me nervous, but then again everything makes me nervous! I do vibrate on that frequency because I've been a Cubs fan as long as I can remember and I'm 64.

I wouldn't say it makes me "nervous", but I hate the fact the media is using it as a barometer when the Mets team the Cubs now face is vastly different.

Same here and I'm in my early 40s. I do think we're confident, but don't think we're overconfident either. I think Maddon, Lester, Ross, and others will make sure we're in the right mindset. I think this is really our young bats vs. their young arms, but I think our pitching can be a much bigger plus than their bats.
End of day it's two young teams that are on the rise, so should be an entertaining ride. I think the thing that doesn't have me as nervous is it feels like we're playing with house money. We are built for the future, but having success in the present. I guess Wood, Prior, and Zambrano had me thinking that to some degree in 2003 but it just feels different.

The current Cubs team is not only likeable, but one that has a chance to be like this for a decade, I think that's why it feels "different" this time around. The guys are actually producing and look like killers on the field so far.

Syndergaard pitching game 2. He threw 100 pitchers on Thurs. We have a great opportunity to get him not at full strength.
He's a beast so we need to take advantage. Gonna be an epic showdown!!

A couple things I can't get off my mind.
1. Bryant's error opening the way for the 2 out, 0-2, lefty on lefty, Granderson single.
2. As good as Castro has been, he dogged it out of the box on that lucky RBI single over Lagares' head - Castro can thank the swirling winds for that RBI. Rizzo went from 1st to home, Castro should've made it to third. Baez's single turns into the go ahead RBI. Momentum, Cubs. Lead, Cubs.

John would have been 64 too. Until a week ago. He would have turned 65 Oct 9 and Paul turns 64 next summer. So, not a bad time to revisit that one.

John was born in 1940, would have been 75, Paul is 73, so they are quite a bit older than me. Don't rush it!

I was in Miami in 2003 when we went up 2-1. I, like most people, thought we couldn't lose. Hopefully, winning one game, means nothing! Go Cubs!!!!!

Impossible to compare 2003 to 2015. We are starting four rookies at key positions -- something almost completely unheard of.
What we've done is stunning and points to a long, sustained run. This is not lightning in a bottle, this is the beginning of an era.
Beyond the difference in players, we have a better FO, better scouting, better managing, a better ballpark and better ownership.
It will be a few years before Bryant, Schwarber, Russell, Baez and Soler peak. When they do, we could enter a Golden Era.
If anything the 2015 Mets are closer to the 2003 Cubs with the young staff of aces (Prior, Wood, Zambrano, etc).
So while its important to not lump the 15 Cubs with the 03 Cubs, we also need to realize we've only played 1 game. Its a long, long series.
If we win tonight, I like our chances.
