Another series win. Bring on the Brewers. Fowler and Soler should return to the team during this series. Fowler returning to the top of the order should give the offense a jolt.

Vogelbach for Mike Montgomery. Cubs add a lefty to the bullpen. They also got AAA pitcher Jordan Pries who could be a bullpen arm in the near future.

It's a good deal. They didn't give up the farm and moved out a nice bat, but a guy that had no place on the MLB roster. Good deal for both sides.

Montgomery has a 1.05 WHIP and 2.15 ERA in relief this season. He is under team control for a while either through 2020 or 2021. We should be looking to add another bullpen arm, but this makes it less of a dire situation. Fowler and Soler should both be back soon.

It sounded like they're very open to more moves... but for the right price on their end.

Rizzo coming through! ...and the fringes of a Chapman trade. I don't like you off the field but if you can give me 105mph and a goose egg ninth inning, you can help this ball club.

I don't like Chapman, but in sports a guy might be a jerk but when he's your jerk you cheer for him. The current rumor floating is Gleyber Torres for Chapman. They better get a lot more than a few months of Chapman if they are moving one of baseball's top 25 prospects.

The Cubs have won every series since the break! They look to be back on track and just needed a little rest for everyone to heal up. The return of Fowler is nice and Soler and Coghlan should be back any day now.

So it appears that we have Chapman for Torres, McKinney, Warren, and Crawford. Also sounds like no extension will be done with Chapman.

It's a high price for a rental, but also fixes our most glaring need. We still have Happ, Candeleiro, Alomora and others in the system so not terrible and likely no room for Torres and McKinney anyways.

Giving up Torres for a rental is a mistake. Yes, it fixes the problem for this year but without an extension in place they either have to be the highest bidder in the off-season or do the same thing again next year.

wow, two prospects for possibly a rental in Chapman. I've heard that he did not want to leave the Yankees? If that is true, he can literally leave in the offseason and we just gave away our prospects.

The only prospect that matters is Torres. McKinney is a 4th OF or fringe starter. Warren is irrelevant. Crawford is nothing. Chapman will go back to the Yankees this off-season if they are the highest bidder. Torres for a rental instead of paying the price for Andrew Miller was a mistake.

i'm alright with the trade, we spent all those years building up and stock piling a great farm system just for this purpose - moving them for the pieces to put the team over the top

they aren't doing us any good in the minors being blocked by other great young players already up

Great win. Lackey battled and the bullpen showed a glimpse of what we're all hoping for. Electric!

They have been playing solid since the break. They still have another 50 or so days before they need be back at that peak performance level they started the season at.

Talk about having them by the jugular and going for the kill.

That was a fun one too.
