Cubs VS Brewers 4/7/07 Game Thread (Game 5 of 162)

Post#1 » by Flames24Rulz » Sat Apr 7, 2007 3:14 am

Great win tonight. Can't celebrate it too much as we have a very short turnaround for tomorrow. Game is only about 14 hours from now, so like I said, it is a very short turnaround. Offense had their first big game of the season tonight, which will hopefully translate into some success tomorrow as well. Let's hope we saved some runs for today and tomorrow.

Pitching matchup:

Image

Carlos Zambrano: 0-1, 9.00 ERA, 5 IP, 2 Ks/5 BBs

Image

Ben Sheets: 1-0, 1.00 ERA, 9 IP, 3 Ks/0 BBs

Battle of two aces, and when Sheets is healthy, two of the best pitchers in the NL. We've had three great starts in a row from Lilly, Marquis, and Hill, so hopefully Z comes out with a fire tomorrow and adds his name to that list as well. Let's hope that Z's control is much sharper than it was on Opening Day. And let's also hope that Sheets isn't as good as he was on Opening Day.

Judging by career numbers, Floyd has done well against Sheets. But Jones has done awful (1/10) and Murton doesn't have an AB against him (stupid Dusty). I wonder if Lou would actually think to have Murton in LF tomorrow, give Jones a day off and have Floyd in RF. Izturis also has horrid career numbers against Sheets (2/21), so maybe Theriot could get the start. Piniella has options that he can use...let's hope he makes the right ones.

Gametime is at 12:05 CST and it will be televised on WGN :D

This will be a great matchup.
Zambrano wants revenge for his last start and Sheets always dominates us.
Hopefully our power comes back and this will be a great game.

Floyd needs to be in the lineup.. Sheets is filthy and we will need the extra at bat.

When your winning streak ends can I make the next game thread?

Yeah, you can. But let's hope that doesn't happen for, oh, another month or so

This is the first game I could watch without having to go check the Bulls score in-between.
Now the question: Can I get up in time?

Hopefully I will because I am going to try and buy Bulls playoff tickets tomorrow at 10 AM.

The perks of being in the eastern time zone, Cubbies are on an hour later.

EST > CST

12:05 is unusual for a game being played in the central time zone.
Not sure why the scheduled it so early.

Saturday games in Milwaukee are like that sometimes.

Don't worry, I'm sure there will be the usual 11:05 CST games in Pittsburgh at some point too.

UW-Milwaukee is holding a doubleheader at Miller Park following the Brewers-Cubs game

Hope to see Floyd in the lineup again today instead of Jones. Looked real good swinging yesterday.

I agree I like Murton and Ward off the bench.

Until Floyd gives you a big slump. I think Pinella's "butt-buddies" are Theriot and Murton.

I haven't seen anything mind-blowing out of Floyd yet but I think he will tear it up at Wrigley. I almost think Cliff Floyd is the next Glenellen Hill. Watch him hit one onto the rooftops.
