Piniella suspended indefinitely

Major League Baseball has suspended Cubs manager Lou Piniella "indefinitely" after his outburst on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves. Crew Cheif Bruce Froemming said that Lou made physical contact with the umpire and showed great disrespect by kicking dirt on him repeatedly.

I watched it happen live, and on many replays, and while he surely was showing disrespect to the umpire, I didn't see physical contact. Did anyone else?

When was the last time we saw a manager get suspended indefinitely?

I love how the umpire are allowed to shove a coach/player but if the player/coach even touches him barely they get suspended.

**** joke.

This better be appealed and be a fair suspension.

I don't recall there being any physical contact that wasn't initiated by Froemming. And the dirt? Give me a break.

In the end, I don't care, and the suspension certainly won't be for very long. Trammell's a good guy and he'll take care of us in the meantime.

Yeah, my gut feeling is the "indefinite" part of the suspension will be removed tomorrow. League officials probably want to have a chance to review it, discuss it, and didn't think they would be able to do that until the weekend was over. They also probably knew that they didn't want him coaching until they did that so they just slapped the indefinite label on the suspension to give them time to meet.

Makes it sound much worse than it will end up being. I really didn't see this "supposed" contact that Froemming was talking about.
