Cubs and Pads slug it out

D. Lee just got thrown at... in the head and was hit in the wrist area.
As he was walking towards home plate him and Padres Chris Young got into a punching match.

D. Lee threw the first punch

Heres what happened on Friday vs the Pads

Soriano hit a crushing homerun, over the Wrigley wall and onto Waveland. Remember they did the bleacher expansion so it now takes even more to hit it onto waveland. The bleachers are deeper and taller.

After he connected with the ball he took a little long and admired his achievement. Jake Peavy and David Wells didn't like that. Here's what Jake Peavy had to say....

This Cubs team reminds me so much of the Knicks.
We aren't that good (so far) but we seem to make every game exciting.

On another note a bit of topic, Mike Port the VP Of Umpiring said Tim Hudson was fined for throwing at Soriano, and that Lilly was fined, and Renteria was find for the elbow he gave to Mike Fontentot. This means that justice was served at least a bit. But this current situation, ehh mouvin! I am just getting confusing about the possible suspensions/fines.

No wonder they can't connect on punches. It hard to hit someone with your eyes closed.

Both didn't want to get hit. And a reason for them missing is because they both have huge arm lengths, and were scared of each other landing a punch. I wish D-Lee landed a huge punch.

Not a Padres fan or a Cubs fan, but Peavy does have a point. Just run the bases when you hit a homerun. Do your job, don't try to show somebody up.

I don't think he was trying to show David Wells up. In fact, historically Soriano always seems to "show boat" a bit but I don't think intentionally to piss off the other team. Just one of those kind of players who is motivated within himself.

Lol I'm trolling on their board on purpose. If they had a big board I would do it so much more because I'm angry, and I would be banned by now.

And that warrants a fastball thrown at your head? Absolutely ludicrous. Lee could have been very seriously injured.

Does anyone else buy into his bull that he was trying to pitch inside and his pitch got away?

Of course not, he was obviously throwing at him. Frankly, I'm glad Lee went after him. Yeah, he didn't seriously land any blows, but his point was made; the Cubs are tired of getting thrown at and they won't be assed out when you do so.

Lee is the unequivocal leader of this Cubs team and I like the fire he displayed, usually the kind of thing that will have a carry-over effect with the rest of the team. I just hope he doesn't get suspended for more than 4-6 games (he shouldn't).

WWDD, what would Dusty do? The Cubs would not be as aggressive of course. What should also be put in consideration as MLB tries to make a decision is the person Derrek is. He is one of the games top ambassadors. He plays hard and this incident was extremely rare. He just took it personal that Young threw at his head.

Exactly, thats what I like about the ruling bodies of MLB, they actually look at all of the factors involved.

NBA, not so much. I expect a 4 game suspension that he might appeal based on when the ruling is handed down relative to who they're playing.

No, it doesn't. However, that is the way it is. Guys should just play the game, simple as that. I would never condone going at a guys head.

If you want to plunk someone, at least throw lower where it cannot cause severe career risking injuries possibly.
