what's up with this cat? hits for a ridiculous average, but no power, and not too many rbis. nobody is complaining because others are stepping up and we're winning games, but he needs to drive in more runs.

It has something to do with his wrist injury from last year. I don't think he is at 100%,

how is the wrist affecting his power? he hits bad pitches up in the zone so well, but they are all singles when they should be home runs. he doesn't even hit many doubles.

He has lost some bat speed with the wrist injury. Typically when players get older and hit less home runs, that's the cause. It just happened prematurely because of that injury.

I have heard people at other forums say that players that go through wrist injuries like Derrek had tend to lose their power.
I still have faith in Derrek. Most of the balls that he hits tend to go right off the wall. If a few of those could just go 10 more inches he could have like 15 homers by now.
Hopefully we see him turn it on during the 2nd half.

would a lineup change do anything, maybe give him some more rbi opportunities.
maybe switch him with ramirez.

Don't fix what's not broken! We've won 10 of 11. Don't change anything!

Don't let his power numbers fool you, he is still having a heck of a year batting around .350. Pitchers just aren't pitching to where he likes the ball. I would like Piniella to move him down to say the 5 hole with A-ram in the 4 and the Fonz in the 5.

I'd rather have him bat second, try to get him as many AB's as possible. From now on he'll probably be about 20-25 homers a year.

Check out his OBP.
Why in the world should we move him down?
ARam is the 45 HR guy on this team.
Lee just needs to get hits and get on base. He will still hit about 25 dingers.
