Vitters still not signed - August 15th deadline..

Post#1 » by treyZz » Mon Aug 13, 2007 5:41 am

If he's not signed he has a scholarship to Arizona State waiting for him.

They better get a deal done. If a deal is not done I believe we get compensation.. We would get the #4 overall pick in next year's draft, correct? I thought it went like that if you don't sign a player in the first round next year you move back 1 slot & get a pick. I could be totally wrong though.. Anyone know for sure?

And judging by the kids comments during draft day I don't think a College Education would be a bad thing. Not to mention the women at Arizona St.
A sandwich round, also known as a compensatory round, occurs after the first, but before the second round of the draft. For instance, if a team has the No. 5 pick in the first round but fails to sign the player, then the team receives a pick in the first sandwich round of the following year. The order of picks in a sandwich round is determined by inverse standings.
This is from Wikipedia... kind of interesting.

As far as the college thing goes.... I know any kid would want to get paid and make sure he can make a living in case of injury in college.... but ASU and college overall... you cant pass that up

If you are right I wouldn't mind that because I didn't want to pick Vitters anyways. I wanted the catcher GYBE likes.

I thought they changed the compensation for failing to sign your first rounders.. I could be completely wrong though..

Also, I believe there is a porn video of an ex-ASU cheerleader on the internet. I'm just saying.. (Not that I would ever watch any indulge myself in such a video.)

Matthew Wieters.

The irony of course, is that apparently the Cubs didn't want him because of signability issues.

I like Soto...but Wieters is easily as good with the bat AND was the best defensive catcher in the draft.
