Official Memories (Good) of 2003 Thread

Post#1 » by Rodanlee » Tue Sep 4, 2007 6:11 am

So it's September so if we want to be ready for the playoffs I think that we should take a trip down memory lane and think about the good times.... I'll start it off-

I'll say the Yankees series when Karros hit the homer after Clemens came out looking for his 300th and Prior vs. Pettite when Joe Bo picked off the Yankee's pinch runner to end the game on Sunday Night Baseball...

Cardinals series in September.
Sosa's game winner.
Alou's ball that hit the chalk but was called foul and he and Alfonseca got ejected.
The Comeback Game when we came back from 5 or 7 down to win it.
Cubs win 4 of 5 and gain a lot of momentum.

that one's too easy... how about the game (I think in September) in Pittsburgh where the Cubs won 1-0 and Sammy made a diving catch w/ the bases loaded and 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th... That's when I still liked sammy

Yankees series, anyone? Beating Roger Clemens out of #300?

Also liked acquiring Randall Simon after the sausage incident.

I thought we got him b/f the incident... didn't he resign w/ the pirates the next year and that was when it happened?

I believe we signed him after he hit the sausage in the brewers race.

July 9th was that incident, and the deadline was later.

Best Memories:
-April 4th, 2003: Sammy Sosa hits #500. Cubs lose after coming back from 7-0.
-May 1st, 2003: Prior Vs Bonds, Bonds "charged" the mound after Prior threw at him. Alex Gonzalez hit the game winner in the top of the 10th.
-May 4th, 2003: Gonzo hits another game winning homer this time at home against the Rockies.
-May 10th, 2003: Gonzo hits yet another game winning homer at home against the Cardinals in the 10th.
-May 15th, 2003: Patterson hits a 2 run homer in the 17th inning at Miller Park. Cubs Win.
-May 31st, 2003: Cubs win 1-0 in 16 innings as Sosa struck out 5 times.

Bad:
-June 3rd, 2003: Sosa breaks bat. Cork is found. Sosa's career and legacy over.

Good:
-Yankee Series: Cubs take 2 of 3. Eric Karros breaks up Roger Clemens' bid for his 300th win with a homer in the 7th. Cubs win on a pickoff at first on the Sunday Night game.
-Cardinals Series...

Game is on, will continue later

if i remember correctly, Wood hit bonds in the game before so i think that prior doing it just set him off, nevertheless it was awesome and the pinnacle of my liking prior...

i also believe that the patterson game winner was during todd wellemeyers big league debut where he K'd the side to save it?
