Carl Crawford anyone??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just heard on AM1000, in the usual sportscenter report, Cubs have had talks with Tampa Bay involving a trade.

I then googled it and found THIS...
(bottom of page)

Paul Sullivan wrote:Hendry must aim higher this winter. If a young star like Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford becomes available and the Cubs can trade Jones, he'd be crazy not to jump in. A .351 hitter in the second spot in '07, Crawford is the kind of athletic outfielder Lou Piniella craves. Piniella managed Crawford as a youngster in Tampa Bay.

The quote from Sullivan isn't as convincing, but I heard the radio report first and they said...

"In talks".

Or leadoff.

Crawford is a stud. Sell the farm with the exception of Pie Hendry!

TB won't be interested in Pie anyway. They're loaded with young OFers - they'll want good, cheap pitching. They'll probably ask for something like Rich Hill or Marmol, plus one or two prospects like Veal.

I'd hesitate only because you'd be taking on some salary, which you COULD use to just sign a free agent and not have to give up a Rich Hill.

He's an intriguing player, but it would definitely have to be the right price.

I wouldn't mind giving up Rich Hill and Josh Vitters for Carl Crawford.

Wow he'd be amazing.

He would be our solution for a leadoff hitter. We would have one of the speediest outfields as well. Do it Jimbo.

Soriano is always going to leadoff.

I think you mean "we" instead of "he" and you guys already have Carlos Lee and Hunter Pence in the outfield. Plus, I don't see the Astros spending a lot of money this offseason especially since they spent a lot on Carlos Lee last offseason.

Cuban's going to be real happy with his lineup of

1. Soriano-LF
2. Crawford-RF
3. ARod-SS
4. DLee-1B
5. ARam-3B
6. DeRosa-2B
7. Soto-C
8. Pie-CF

:o

Crawford's batting average and on base percentage has increased every year since coming to the majors.

He can also hit the left handers. So we could play him in center for Pie then sub somebody in for RF.

I wouldn't mind seeing CC play center full time and Felix groomed for the RF spot.

Crawford is a gold glove fielder.

Here's a question for you guys. Would you want him if the price was Hill and Soto?

Rich Hill = Peace, Soto = I wouldn't trade him.
