"After deciding to play in the U.S. early Tuesday morning, Fukudome chose the Cubs' offer on Tuesday night, ESPN 1000 in Chicago reported.
The two sides have reportedly agreed on a four-year deal, but the exact dollar amount was still being worked out. Earlier media reports said that the Cubs were willing to pay the career .305 hitter between $12 million and $14 million per season."

I'd rather have Roberts lead off and Soriano at the 5 or 6 but I have a feeling we're stuck with Soriano leading off.
I still wouldn't mind having Derosa play shortstop. He has the same if not more range than Theriot, and has a stronger arm.
Great signing Jimbo!

You sure you wouldn't rather have Cliff Floyd out in RF for only $4M?
He was a decent player for us last year, but is just not a reliable option to play everyday. His power numbers weren't visible either, like every Cubs player.

2nd?
That would be a good high OBP spot, behind Roberts.

I think he should bat 2nd. Especially if the Cubs land Roberts and put him at leadoff. Drop soriano to the 5 hole. But I'd be willing to bet we see Fuku at the 5.
If there is no Roberts then I don't know where you see him. Probably DeRosa or Theriot at 2 again.

I agree. But I honestly think the Cubs still need one more bat in their lineup. Either at SS or at 2B. Pie has to be allowed to play everyday in CF, and I think Soto will be very solid behind the plate. And Brian Roberts is the name being thrown around. The last player I want the Cubs to trade for is Tejada. He makes too much money, his play is declining, and he can't play a good SS anymore.
