This is huge. I saw that he was traded for four players, did not catch who they were though.

Outfielder Carlos Gomez and pitchers Phil Humber, Kevin Mulvey and Deolis Guerra.

None of the guys the Twins received are big time players. I think the Twins backed themselves into a corner by wearing out a Red Sox/Yankees bidding war only to find out that Santana won't accept the trade unless he gets a monstrous contract extension by the team that trades for him.

Regardless, sucks he's in the NL. Mets are the team to beat.

A deal of Gallagher, Pie, Colvin, Patterson, and Marshall/Veal could have worked. That may have been too much as well.

But an extension in the $150 mil range and the never ending sale of the team issue, would the commissioner's office have let the deal go through?

Highly doubtful, especially with Bud (Brewer) Selig in the commissioners office.

I was talking with my buddies about this situation and I'm really heart torn about it.

I would've rather had Santana go to the Yanks, and I hate the Yanks, then go to the Mets.

I'm a Mets fan, but I'm a Cubs fan first. Wayyyyy first.

With Johan on the Mets I really don't see how the hell they can't make the playoffs.

Plus, Santana in the first round of the NL playoffs. Its not like hes pitching against the AL, teams like CLE, DET, Boston, or NY. He'll be pitching against the Rockies, Phillies, Cubs, or D-backs.

I really don't want the Mets in the first round.

Now on the Mets fan side of me, I'm happy really happy. No more 17283 losing streaks.

I think I heard MLB will extend the deadline but I am not sure. 6 minutes if this isn't true.

MLB granted the Mets a two hour extension on that deadline.

Deadline in 25 minutes.
In a dream world this deal would not get done and Hendry swoops in and grabs him.
