Can Rich Hill be the 2007 Erik Bedard?

Bedard is 28 and Hill is 27 right now.

If you compare Bedard's 06 stats to Hills 07 stats, they are strikingly similar. Overall I would say Hill's numbers were better. Bedard had more wins (which don't really matter) and a better earned run average, but Hill had 8.45 K/9 compared to Bedard's 7.84, a .235 AVG to Bedard's .258, and a better WHIP, H/9, and OBP.

One thing Hill needs to do is lower the number of home runs yielded. He also had 8 games in which he gave up 5 runs or more. As he matures he will learn to fix these mistakes and perform better.

Granted I know it's fun to compare stats, but Bedard did burst out into the scene as a monster last year. My overall question is, what are the chances Hill does the same or something similar? Could this be his breakout year?

If he can get his HRs down, then definitely. That is really the only thing holding him back at this point.
