Diabetes won't hold back Cubs' outfield prospect

Great article on Sam Fuld and his diabetes problem. Thought I would pass this along:
http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=146449
PEORIA, Ariz. -- At 8 in the morning, Sam Fuld scarfs down a blueberry muffin, heads for his locker and unzips a small black case.

Cell phone? BlackBerry?

Nope. Glucometer.

Five or six times a day, the Cubs' center fielder opens that case, pricks a finger (without wincing) and checks his blood sugar.

Yes, Fuld is a diabetic. He has Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes.

But no, he doesn't let it get him down.

I hope we get to know more than just his diabetes problem. Good Luck Fuld.

Good luck to Sam, I also know Steve Stone likes him to start at center.

With today's technology it is really not as big of an issue as before. Like in Ron Santo's playing days, where you had to sometimes guess your sugar levels.
