This team has no leader

Post#1 » by McGrady2Head » Wed Oct 8, 2008 4:08 pm

We dont have that one or two guys who just have the tough guy personality to carry a team in the playoffs. Like Manny did for the Sox, and like Jeter did for the Yanks. Soriano, ramirez, fuku, lee, etc are all not leaders who will step up when it counts. If manny is a free agent, we need to get him. we need to go after CC. if we cant get those 2, we need to go with playoff tested tough guys like a adam dunn or a orlando cabrera. we have to many passive nice guys on this team

Waittt whattt?????? First of all, Adam Dunn has never made it to the playoffs, so that doesn't make any sense... And I would love CC, but he's gonna cost too much and he's also a playoff choker...

Wait Orlando Cabrera is a leader? Is that why they are running him out of town on the South Side?

Manny and CC are going to be asking for nearly a quarter of a 100 million a year each. And the Cubs do not need to majorly improve their team. There are two steps that Hendry may want to take to improve the Cubs offense. He may want to add a true leadoff guy or that big left handed bat. My guess is he will go after the big left handed bat before anything else.

Great thought, one I'm sure many of us fans can agree on. Your examples on the other hand... . Not so good.

Jeter is good. I always loved, more like envied, how awesome of a leader Jeter is.

Do agree, Lee, Aram, Soriano, are all great ball players, but poor leaders. The lead by example guy can be found on every club, it just so happens that he's our gold glove first baseman who bats third in the lineup. ALl those things are great, but there's not much leadership after that. DeRo would be a good candadite, but I'm not sure if his resume fits the bill.

There are guys that just aren't good leaders. For example, look at Rowand. He was suppose to be Philly's answer to leadership and grit, and now he's in SF.

Cubs need a guy (or three) that can hit in October more than anything. I'd take Manny, he knows how to get it done when it matters. Find somebody (anybody) to take Soriano off our hands and go get Manny. Theriot can lead off. D-Lee is good, but we can dump his choking bat for a guy like Morneau. Big left handed bat solved.
