As expected, The Cubs today announced they’ve completed a salary-dumping trade sending pitcher Jason Marquis to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for reliever Luis Vizcaino.

As part of the deal, which was put together more than a week ago, the Cubs also are sending $875,000 to the Rockies to offset a portion of the $9.875 million owed Marquis on the final year of his contract.

The move results in a net $5 million payroll savings for the Cubs, clearing room to add switch-hitting outfielder Milton Bradley, whose three-year, $30 million deal is expected to be made official later this week.

Moving Marquis opens a spot in the starting rotation that figures to fall to left-hander Sean Marshall if the Cubs don’t successfully renew trade talks for Jake Peavy or acquire another veteran starter

Marshall is fine as a 5th starter if we don't get Jake. Hopefully he can sustain his increased K rate he put up when coming out of the bullpen last season.

Tell us how you really feel.

I cannot believe Tits signed Marquis to that big deal that offseason. What a joke. Thank god we never have to see this joke of a professional athlete again.

I hope if we face Marquis this year our pitchers throw at this dome.

Jason Marquis - as useless as tits on a nun. But, hey, he gives you 200 innings!

If Jason Marquis was awful here what is he going to look like at Coors Field? Should be entertaining.

He's actually pitched well in Coors for his career. 2.51 ERA. It's a good move by the Rockies. Sinkerball pitchers are really valuable to them because of the way balls fly out of their park and he's cheap because we're still paying some of his salary.
