The guys you have to worry about playing are Zambrano, Soto, and Soriano. Derrek, Teddy, and Harden will either be short inning subs or will not play at all.

I cannot see how the Cubs would let Harden play with the news that came out yesterday.
Wasnt this the year that D-Lee got hurt?

Yeah it was in 2006. But he injured his wrist in Los Angeles.
I doubt Harden will make the roster with his health. The rosters also need to be trimmed down to 25 players.

Lee will get plenty of PT with only Youkillis (and possibly McCann) as viable 1B for the WBC.

I can't see how Harden would be allowed to play. I really don't care how Canada does, I don't want Harden (or Dempster) pitching. Not even in relief.
Canada could actually field a good pitching staff if everyone could play. A Harden/Bedard/Dempster rotation isn't too shabby.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ba ... 7158.storyIt comes as no huge surprise that Cubs pitcher Rich Harden has eliminated himself from Canada's roster for the World Baseball Classic, which runs concurrent with spring training.
Harden, who might not be ready to start for the Cubs during early March because of his on-and-off right shoulder, is quoted in Canadian newspapers as saying he is bowing out.
"I missed the last [2006] WBC because I was coming off surgery, and that just killed me to be in the stands watching," he was quoted as saying. "And this time it will be just as difficult to watch because I want to play and represent Canada.
"If I was 100 percent and it was a different year and different scenario, I would have jumped at the opportunity to play in the WBC. It's unfortunate, but it's not the decision I can make right now. In my heart I was hoping it would work out but in my head I had a feeling it wouldn't. I kind of knew the decision would be made for me by circumstance. It's very disappointing not to play for Canada but my No. 1 priority is the Cubs. I've just started to throw and [March] is too soon for me."
