Re: The Mario Thread 2016-17
For sake of both Magic and Mario hopefully trade will occur where both sides will be satisfied. Obviously Mario doesn't fit in Magic plans. I blame both sides. Yea Mario is dumb as ****, yea he's missing shots, looks lost, maybe he's bust but still I think he didn't play as much as he should have. He s now scared and zero confident because of staff he has there. Seems like they gave up on him and his left to rot. Get him some mental help or get rid of him.

Can't blame the Magic. He has to earn playing time and then when he gets it, he has to do something. Right now his trade value is 0. ZEEEERO. Magic are better off paying him his cheap rookie salary. Mario is the only that can do something about it. He has to man up and play better. If he wants to sulk up and act like a baby and let that ruin his game, then his career will crash and burn and the Magic will have a busted pick.

Can partially agree. Yea his stats are bad, but he's 21. I could understand your theory if Magic has better players, cmon Green instead of Mario ? Force your young #5pick dont bury him after mistakes any youngs do. Still think staff working bad with him, no idea where you got sulking thing from, thats just your angry fans theory. Same as I heard he s first and last coming and leaving training.

Is it true that his teammates on the Croatian National team didn't like him?
I read that from a Philly fan who said that Daric wouldn't want to play with him in Philly cause he didn't like him... the talk was that not too many teammates liked him... this was the talk after some trade idea moving Hezonja to Philly.

No way thats even close to truth. They both play together as kids for both national team and club. On contrary I m pretty sure they are good friends. Here s a short video about week or two ago when magic played Clippers.

Yeah. Mario did act like superstar on NT a little bit and has that atitude little bit cocky/some swearing to Repesa and Pasqual/ but thats ok hes most talented Croatian player since Drazen Petrovic who also was similar personality. Nothing bad there look at Kobe or Iverson.

Maybe Saric is little jelauos to Mario because at caddetes/young competitions Mario did always request special meal and didnt want eat with his teamates but I think everyone can eat what wants

Staff that has developed PG, Kawhi, Turner, among other solid NBA players. I think ill believe the staff knows how to develop. AG and Elf seem to be developing very nicely

There is no way that can be true. If that was the case Mario would be lighting it up right now.

PG and Kawhii are rare born superstars and not in Magic. AG and Elf are developing OK for minutes they getting and experience they accumulated so far.

Gordon and Elf were higher prospects in their respective drafts than either George or Kawhii... They weren't rare born superstars. They were young prospects who were coached up well. Those same coaches are now on the Orlando Magic bench.

i think he means guys like kawhi, pg had shown their potential to become big time players in the league. With the help of the staffs, they were developed into who they are today.tiderulz wrote:croat25 wrote:tiderulz wrote:

Thank you yes, thats what I ment. I was first to criticise Hezonja with his performances this and last year, way below my expectations predraft, but he deserves more minutes, way more, 20 would be fair, especially in this roster ffs, he's not playing in GSW. I just don't get it. He is on rookie salary, 21 yo, and treated unfair. Thats why I mean if this staff cant find a role for Mario in this roster then something is wrong. I can agree with opinion staff is doing good and Mario just sucks, but then get rid of him, you wont get any more value for him plaing him 8mpg and recieving nothing.

Re: The Mario Thread 2016-17
I just don't think that the magic are trying to showcase him for any trades. He's hit a wall and hit it hard. I don't know what the problem is.... but you don't all of a sudden go from being able to light it up to sucking horribly for the rest of your life.... in my opinion. With Vogel and Forcier.... if he requires special attention from them... or treatment... so be it. His time will come.
Pshhhhhh..... everyone is trying to get Otto Porter all of a sudden.... and he's pretty much been "meh" for most of his career... which is two years longer than hezonjas. Probably cuz it's a contract year lighting a fire.... or things are really starting to click for the former 3rd pick in the 2013 draft. Hezonjas leash has been slowly being loosened once again.... and that is a great sign. Most of the times I've checked... no matter what his numbers are.... he seems to effect the team positively more than anything else. Like tonight.1 for 3 shooting.... top +/- player at 8. I wished he came in this season on that uphill trajectory that he had at the end of last season.... but sadly it didn't happen. Doesn't all of a sudden make the player trash. Just my take.
P.s. if he is traded for pennies.... i'm positive... if people are pissed about the tobias and oladipo trade..... 50 % will be on this board saying " I knew he was something special....just needed time.... Hennigan.... OFF WITH HIS HEAD" smh

Only lol at statement Vogel developed PG. Dunno why that nonsence is being throwed around. Hoe do you knoe he didnt make him worse, maybe if he had other coaches he would get even better.
95% coaches would "develop" PG if they were at Vogel place.
He is just grater player, it was matter of time when he will "explode"

PG wasnt a #1 pick, coming in setting the world on fire. sub 30% 3 pt shooting, was a 2nd team conference. Lets not act like he came into the league like Lebron.

Does he deserve his minutes? Yes.
But lets not forget that Frank has a mandate to win NOW. thats why he is sticking with the vets. Unfortunately, it comes at the expense of Hezonja's playing time.
But now with the injury bug, Hezonja is getting his playing time. And he should seize the opportunity. So far he is doing better than the start of the season. But there is no denying that he did not improve This offseason.

This... He made guys like Roy Hibbert AND Lance Stephenson look like all-star caliber players. Look what happened to those guys now. They're either out of the league or just rotation players.
Same thing with Kawhi Leonard... He was developed by an organization who turned later round Picks of Parker and Ginobili into star caliber players. And they also turn guys like Danny Green (Who was out of the NBA at one point) into a decent starter.
The narrative that Vogel/Forcier didn't have a hand in developing George/Leonard is ridiculous considering the success of the players they've coached over the years.
Even now Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton look a lot better in the last few months under these guys.
Hezonja either just doesn't have "it" or just needs to focus on his development over the off-season (rather than playing for the national team). He'll at least look like a rotation player next year if he did that.
