Reading between the lines, the Raptors are unlikely to try to move up in the draft order to make sure they can grab Evan Mobley, the USC seven-footer who projects as a multi-purpose modern big, even though Toronto’s most glaring need is for some quality size.

Toronto is optimistic, according to sources, that they can address their need for a big man through free agency, with Sacramento’s Richaun Holmes -- who happens to share an agency with Fred VanVleet -- a potential target, along with Khem Birch, who finished last season strong after Toronto signed him from the buyout market.

If the Raptors move up in the draft, it would be more likely be to guarantee being able to draft Suggs, who generally appears fourth on most draft boards, but who appeals especially to Toronto due to his All-NBA calibre potential as a defender, his athleticism, his ability to score at the rim and in the half court and in transition -- as well as his drive and competitiveness.

Suggs is the 3rd best prospect in this draft. I have him ranked higher than Green.

I have Suggs ranked higher than Green also. Suggs is 1 inch shorter than Green, but 30 pounds heavier (210 vs. 180 for Green). Green will need to put on weight to thrive at the next level. Suggs is a better all-around talent right now. That is why I will be pretty sick to my stomach if we draft Barnes. Just three months ago, mock drafts had him as low as 9 or 10, and high as 7. He has skyrocketed due to his "measurements". He did not really impress me in the NCAA tournament where he averaged 6/3/2. However, I can see why the Raptors would draft him. He is a good defender, passer, and is versatile. I would have taken him at 7 or 8. At 4, anything other than Suggs or Mobley, would be hard to stomach.

Think Barnes may be the pick here. I wouldn't be upset though because our guys know better than us. He's oozing potential as a 6'9 point guard. Can guard 1-5. We probably play him as a small ball 5 and just hope he develops his shot. It might work out or he might bust. That's the draft it's an inexact science. It's like Chicago last year with Patrick Williams.

Barnes I'm shocked in the combine measurements that he is 6'7" without shoes and 6'8" with shoes only slightly taller than OG. I'm guessing his hair adds to the height.

Bruh...I feel like we're all so much deeply invested into Jalen Suggs.....that it's gonna feel like complete heartbreak if we choose anyone else

We're at the 1 yard line

I think we're evaluating multiple deals where we trade up and down if the asking price is right, with our order being Mobley > Suggs > Barnes. If the cost isn't too high to move up and get Mobley, we'll do that. If the additional incentive we can get for moving down to Barnes is high enough, we'll do that. Or just sit at 4 and take Suggs.
