I keep saying this kid is untradeable. I wouldn't trade him for Melo or Butler no matter the package.

I would def take my opinion as questionable as I went on a rant about Jae Crowder being a whiner and having no handles or driving ability a couple of weeks ago and he has ripped that comment to shreds in the last couple of weeks, but I digress...
Anyone that compares Jaylen to Jeff green is nuts. Jaylen proved that last night. Lord, I was still rooting for Jeff to take the ball and do something with it besides stand around and to man up and play D, but he certainly does none of that. Jaylen plays hard, sometimes too hard.

Re: Bradley on Brown: "he's going to prove a lot of people wrong"
This may be a little OT but I think it is pertinent to Jaylen Brown's future. I think the only two players on this year's team that will be on the next Celtics finals contender are Brown and Smart. The third possibility is 99, (in a backup role).
That is why I would not trade the next two Nets picks for anyone that is legitimately available.
I love this current team. They play hard, they are well coached and are "scrappy" underdogs.
In the end, talent trumps all.
The rest of the roster have fatal flaws that will keep them from beating the truly elite teams. We cannot be the smallest team in the NBA and expect to compete for the championship. We cannot be a bottom five rebounding team and expect to compete for a championship.
The C's are in a spot where if I were DA, I would tread carefully. Tie up too much in a declining IT, commit to twenty million+ for an undersized two with a checkered injury history, or trade the Nets windfall for the wrong "guy" and this thing could fizzle before it has a real shot at winning.
Cousins, Butler, Westbrook. Players of that ilk added to this core is not beating the Cavs or GSW.
Jaylen, Fultz and another top drawer big man paired with a gradually phased out IT, AB and Horford has a legit shot to win in 4 or 5 years.
That is what Red would have done.
That is what Danny should do.

This guy is untouchable for me. And the exact reason why both BKN picks should be untouchable as well. Jaylen is pure example that if you draft right with your top 5 pick, you are drafting a stud. These BKN picks in addition to our core players are our way to dynasty.

The overreacting after the good game vs the Magic is real.

Calm down. He is still raw and very young. Look lost most of the time.
He has a lot of talent, but let see if he can develop it. Nothing can be taken for granted.

Only when people make him into a super star then make excuses when he doesn't play well. I was saying Brown is one way near Lebron's level during their rookie years. That's my way of pumping the brakes.
Fans overhype on message boards. Jordan Mickey overhype wasn't as bad but it still was.

Its a nice progression from Brown, and I think every C's fan is happy with what we are seeing.
Let's hope we get to start over-reacting a few more times this season.. then 20-30 times next season..then 60 times the season after and then...

Position-wise, I like him at 2 now, but he'll be able to slide up to 3 when needed. Curious how long that will last. There's precedent for tall skinny guys get played down a position when first drafted (for ex, Rashard Lewis & KD both played the 2 in Seattle their rookie years) then when they fill out a little slide up a position. Jalen's borderline so I can see him going either way. I REALLY hope he's not a 4 except very situationally.

I don't think I would confuse Jaylen Brown with Durant or Lewis in the strength department he is strong as they get at 19 or whatever he is. Brown is a classic SF he can play some 2 and play some 4 but the bottom line is much more of a shot blocker and rebounder than ball handler.
There has been a lot of learning going on this season. We have hit that point in the year were we might start to see some playing.

the incessant need for "fans" to poo poo Brown's play is real. I've said all along that from Day 1, if he got starter minutes and plays run for him, he'd produce close to or better than Jae. He got his first opportunity in his 5th game against CLE and proved me right. These last two games he did as well. Three games close to 30 mpg...three games he played with starters and had actual plays run for him...and he produced on par with Jae.
Lots of hate from the peanut gallery when he struggles getting 8 mpg due to being unable to get into the flow of the game. Go back and read the haters in those games. It's truly laughable. What's even funnier is how all of a sudden Brad is developing him so well when in actuality all that has happened is Brown started. He already showed from his first start he was capable. It wasn't Brown holding Brown back. In fact, these last couple of performances wouldn't have even happened if not for injuries. And Brown was integral in these wins too.
You'll see, even though he has already proven himself, once AB comes back and Brown reverts to getting scarce minutes and justifiably struggles, you haters will be claiming he isn't ready and Brad knows best. JB will suddenly suck again and you'll be saying "just wait...he'll be so good in 3 years!". News flash...he's so good now.

Sure, they were both twigs & taller to boot. Brown may be stronger, but he can still save some punishment while his body matures more. I may be overreacting to being small at every position, but it made me smile when I same him starting in AB's place. Being able to switch 2-4 with Jerebko is nice.

I'm very happy to see Brown playing well. I have high hopes for him. I'm also not ready to retire his number.
In 2006, Gerald Green was a similar player to Brown now, with similar strengths (elite athleticism, youth and potential, solid shooting form) and weaknesses (could hardly dribble). He scored 14, 22, 8, 17, and 19 in a 5 game stretch when he finally got minutes. The next year, he averaged 10 ppg, scored 20 or more fifteen times and 30 or more once.
2 years later he was playing in Russia.
I'd love to see him become Andre Iguodola, but there's also still a chance he becomes Gerald Green.

Totally different players. GG was shoot and dunk and stop

JB has different skills and different attitude.

You haters? A hater is someone that won't give someone any type of props and only see the negatives of a particular person.
I give Brown plenty of props when it's deserved. But you don't seem to see that. If anything you're a Brad Stevens hater.
I want to see Brown do well, but I'm not putting him in the hall of fame just yet or comparing him to a Kobe or a Dominque after one or two good games.

The only thing I want Brown to stop doing his clapping his hands at ball-handlers when he's on defense. I dig that he's not intimidated, but at the same time, Jaylen has to realize that he's no KG on defense, nor does he carry that sort of cache with officials. And one of these days, a vet is going to take his clapping personally and just carve him up. Respect your elders, young man.

one thing i want to see from brown is he needs to use the reverse side of the rim more often. he looks very akward when attempting to finish at the rim at times which zaps his natural athleticism

Come on now. People don't hate Jaylen.
Jaylen makes mistakes early in the shot clock and that messes with defensive scheme.
Brad is trying to get wins with this team. He can't set a precedent of blatant rookie favoritism when other guys on the team can be more trusted with the game plan. You also can't baby rookies because they can take their prearranged minutes for granted.

I don't really see the similarities. Gerald projected as more of a smooth scorer that's going to score 18 points with 3 3s and 2 FTs. Brown is going to score 18 points with post ups, 1 3 pter, and 8 fts. Despite his strength comments, his body is already 95% of the way there to being a specimen and Green is still a rail.
Brown gets lost as Gerald did(and still does), but he's impacting play when he gets to a spot defensively. Gerald could be in the right defensive spot and still get overpowered.
I get what you're saying as far as youth not progressing as you'd hope sometimes and Brown is pretty bad right now, but I think he's at a much higher level than Green started out at.
