His interview the night of the draft after the Melton acquisition where he specified needing more guys that can play both ends of the floor come playoffs was music to my ears. Not necessarily a positive I guess with how shallow our depth is, but I'd probably have Springer like 6th-8th in terms of guys on this roster that I would throw out there if we were playing a playoff game tonight.

Embiid -> Harden -> Maxey -> Melton -> Harris -> Reed -> Springer/Bassey

I'm expecting some more roster reconstruction and shuffling before the season starts, we need some size and some wing depth, but Springer has all the talent to enter into rotation - and the investment into a young defensively elite guard with great size and blossoming offensive skill has to ability to reap long term dividends far more than what a Milton or Korkmaz will give you on their best days.

The issue with Zhaire as far as I'm concerned has nothing to do with him or any disease, it's the fact that the ridiculous trade was even made. We drafted the perfect kid that was ready to play and filled a need, and traded him for a project and a hope and prayer that a draft pick would increase in value with some proposed rule changes. One of the countless idiotic moves post-Hinkie / pre-Morey.

I don't disagree, but everyone seems to forget that an unprotected 1st round pick was also part of the deal.

Too bad we threw it away I'm the Tobias trade.

That's the pick I was referring to. You have a kid who's ready to go and fits, and you trade him for a wing and a prayer, so to speak. Hideous management for a team that was ready to compete.

At that time we admit that Ben is a role player, Tobi is a borderline star and we need a perimeter star caliber shotcreator.

Fultz was supposed to be it. Jimmy was supposed to be it. It eventually end up being Harden.

I understanding passing up Mikal. I dont have complains about that. I think he is overrated. He’s not as good as a 3pt shooter than Tobias. He was cooked on defense in the playoffs. He’s not a Kawhi who’s gonna lockdown guys.

My issue is drafting Zhaire Smith.

Zhaire Smith is not “star hunting”. Yes, Zhaire’s numbers checks out for me. But he’s not the type that would star in the NBA. A guard who can’t shoot and is not a scorer, is not a STAR in the NBA.

Star hunting is Anfernee Simons, who was drafted 8 spots later.

But between Zhaire or Mikal, Zhaire is more of a “star hunting” pick than Mikal.

Damn, Springer was strong as hell even back then. I really hope this kid stays here, because he's gonna be a stud.

I was just looking at this year's NBA combine compared to last year and noticed a few things that surprised me:

- At last year's combine, Springer had a max vertical of 41.5 inches which would have been tied for the highest vertical this year
- Last year Springer had a standing vertical of 34.5 inches which would have been good for 2nd in this year's combine

Pretty impressive for a guard if you ask me. I'm hoping that Springer adds sorely needed athleticism to this year's team.

I find that video instructive. Springer plays the same game at every level and while it's seems like his athleticism is lacking for the next level each time (from HS to college, college to G-league, hopefully G-league to NBA) he finds a way to play his game against increasingly longer, stronger, and more athletic players.

Gives me confidence his game is going to translate to regular season NBA minutes this season. I'm strangely quite confident he's going to smash through the Great Wall of Rivers in terms of Doc's reticence to play young guys this year. That is if he's still a Sixer by opening night.

Yea, but Springer isn’t the actor that Anthony Edwards is.

I’m high on Jaden, but my takeaway from that clip was not how good Springer looked lol

He is Bruce Brown 2.0

Same measurements, same shooting numbers, uniqueness of physical profile and most of their value is on defense

No joke. Ant's performance in Hustle was pretty impressive. Killed that Kermit role.

Boring and very predictable film without Ant.

Springer is one of those players that doesn't seem to use his athleticism on the offensive end though. you'd think he was ground bound till you look at those insane numbers. I hope that we get him jumping off of one foot a little more.

That trade was trash and taking Bridges of SGA was idiotic.
