Is it unreasonable to think that the Knicks and Pistons had a gentleman's agreement with the draft day deal that if the Knicks couldn't find a better offer on Burks/Noel together or separate they would complete the second deal.

This is the only way I can rationalize the Pistons taking on all that money for two seconds round picks because they committed to the double deal order to get Duren. Knicks checked around some first and decided it was better to get off the money for sure instead of risk it lingering into the FA period.

Is that a thing they could 'agree' to and does it sound plausible?

OMG this would be classic Knicks. CLASSIC. Let's go Heat! I just want to see this FO office get canned as soon as possible, and if after the Knicks gave away asset after asset to clear cap space they fail on Brunson, I think it could happen.

Sadly I actually want us to sign Brunson, though. At least we'll have something new we can kind of get excited about.

Heat said there was no plans to meet with Brunson

they also have huerter and bogs...who basically don't have much of a role with Trae and Dejounte playing 36 minutes a night.

Plus Sims. But guess they are looking for a C option that can spread the floor?

I don’t like the Drummond rumors either….that has to be Perry

I think this is likely.

The Pistons also are angling for cap space in next year's stronger free agent class and to compete this year. They needed depth and they got it. Taking on the salary wasn't really an issue for them.

IT IS UNREASONABLE! KNICKS DID WHAT THEY DID TO FREE UP CAP SPACE AND IN RETURN WE GOT THE PISTONS DUREN.

* waits till Adam Silver leaves the room *

So, about the Piston/Knicks deals....

Knicks expected to aggressively pursue free agent Isaiah Hartenstein, with Andre Drummond also on radar

moocow007 wrote:The icing on the cake (final straw, dagger in the gonads, etc) would be the Knicks fail to land Brunson, panic (again just like last year) and use that cap space on the next Fournier and Kemba Walker then watch Ousmane Dieng and Jalen Duren turn out to be the next Giannis and Bam Adebayo. How sad would that be?

This I want THIS to happen! Let it all burn down!!

Wow could you imagine.. miss out on Brunson and then hand out contracts that we'll need to attach picks to next year to clear cap space for the 2023 FA's that ultimately will not sign with the Knicks.

The optics of missing out on Murray is worse than actually missing out on him.

Also thank you to the redditor who said mentioned this place and all of the despair that it’s caused them.

Drummond is probably the emergency plan for vetmin if their other back up center options like Bamba and Hartlestein/Heartensteen/Hardlestan and whoever else go elsewhere.

How the hell does he spell his name? Hartenstein?

Fellas, let's just forget about Ayton

ISAIAH HARTENSTEIN and Money Mitch will hold down the 5 spot perfectly

To be fair, Mitch was weighing in on Mitch, not the rumor.

He does need to let it fly.
