I vote no. I thought about your efforts to dissuade me and they were thoroughly unconvincing.

Dubs deluded fans into thinking title windows still exist.

Meh...despite the OP trying to separate the swap with whatever else it entails, there would be more than just KD for Brown.

I'd run this group back whilst adding an MLE. I'd make a call on Brown at year end based on how the looks and our ability to resign him.

Not deluded.

If JB feels disrespected by fans thinking KD is a better player than him, that's on him.

What are you basing this off of exactly? Is it that those same fans you are referring to are willing to trade brown for better players?

KD is 34 when season starts. How much longer is 34 then 35 then 36 year KD will still be better than JB? I would say when JB is 26 in 2 years he will be better than 35 year old KD. If KD was 30 then I’ll trade 25 year old JB all day long for KD.

Exactly! KD’s length and skill might give him Lebron or MJ like longevity but his injuries already have taken a toll. Last summer he was the best player in the world…..but against the Celtics it looked like Father Time caught up to him. I was willing to give all the credit to Celtics even without RW playing…..but the play of other superstars like Giannis, Butler and Curry may have proven otherwise. Those guys were all just way better than Durant when it mattered.

There are excuses that can made to explain Durant’s subpar play in playoffs and they may be valid. Personally, I can’t justify a trade of a young star counting on excuses.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

In a straight up trade I'm tearing my hair out trying to decide because I know KD is a better player right now but the homer in me has a ton of love for Brown. Realistically no, Brown alone wouldn't get it done and we'd end up potentially being really shallow running zombie vet ring chasers off the bench. I'd rather get deeper and address the teams weaknesses (open up that wallet Wyc) and run it back.

Re-open the poll so I can vote "NO".

Can we win a championship with KD/Tatum? Probably. But that's not how I want to get it. **** him and **** Kyrie.

I hope he ends up in Phoenix. Miami would be a monster with him. Phoenix with him will also be a monster but at least that's only an issue for the finals. Also I don't think the team the Nets would end up with would be scary.

No.

KD is 33. He turns 34 in september. he'll be 34 during next year's playoffs.

He has not played a full season since he returned from the torn achilles injury.

He sat out an entire season with a torn achilles at the age of 31.

Chris Paul and LeBron. those are the only guys who have continued to play at an all-NBA level past the age of 34. But neither of them had an injury so severe that they had to sit out an entire season after the age of 30. chris paul was missing lots of games this year at age 36.

Lebron has had lots of injuries these past 2 years at age 36 and 37.

So KD has 1, MAYBE 2 more years playing at an all-NBA level.

JB is 25. Tatum is 24.

JB and Tatum have 5 years experience playing together. Tatum and KD have 0.

KD/tatum have a window of 1 or 2, MAYBE 3 years to win a ring. JB/Tatum have window of 10 more years to win a title. and yes, I know JB could be gone in 2 years. but he also could be here for 10 more.

not to mention, JB's salary is way lower than KD, so it's not even about KD vs JB. that's an irrelevant question to ask in the first place. dude we'd have to throw in some combination of smart, white, horford, rob as well as multiple 1st round picks.

So then even if we get KD, the rest of the team won't be good enough to win a ring. Oh, we would get "ring chasers" though. lol yeah like who, dwight howard, kemba walker and carmelo anthony and trevor ariza, paul millsap and eandre jordan blake griffin? LOL no thanks.

If we can make it happen without JB, sure. I'll do it. But from the sounds of it, the only way it'll happen is with JB. So I'm out!

Just run it back, grab someone like OPJ with the MLE and someone like Mcdermott/Kennard with the TPE and we will be one of the top 2 or 3 favorites for the title. .... for the next 5 years!
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

No, unless it was KD + picks for Jaylen

I would though , trade horfiord (to 3rd team) and derrick white + 5 first round picks for KD…

In this scenario KD likely has to request trade to boston

Who cares 4 years down the road when the celtics core us young

Smart
Jaylen
Tatum
Durant

If u don’t wanna trade Jaylen for KD that’s fine...wrong but fine. Stop with the ten year window stuff tho. It’s very unlikely these guys are together that long let alone any duo in the Nba and this era.

KD ain’t coming here so Jaylen is safe j anon

Nah KD Is just too old now. He'll be 34 next season.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

I'd rather see this thing all the way through and win a title with Tatum/Brown/Smart/Rob/Horford/Grant/White all of 'em.

BUT nothing is promised. Durant is a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better player than Brown. If you have the chance to elevate yourself liek that you put emotion aside and do it.

Just a little quote from Zach Lowe on his podcast with Kevin Pelton today, that caught my attention. I take it more serious coming from Zach Lowe than other outlets, thats the only reason i bring it up here.

ZL: '... Another realistic candidate to .. [Zach rephrases ('to me')], again, is Jaylen Brown is an other guy that the Nets would have at least to think about and i think the Celtics depending on how much they have to attach to Jaylen Brown, look he has only two years left on his contract. There is not a lot of long term certainty there for Brooklyn. And there is rumblings for a long time that Jaylen Brown, not a long time predating Boston becoming awesome, rumblings that he would like to test unrestricted free agency at some point. It just depends on what you have to attach ...'

Does the context of this regarding his two year contract and the changing NBA landscape (where it is not guaranteed that we win the chip) change your opinion on a trade?

For the record i voted No, to trading JB and i stand by that. Love that dude, great human being and hopefully a Celtic for life.

The trade request might change the calculus a bit. Obviously teams will be lining up to get KD but I'm not sure there would be a headliner on offer better than JB. Weirdly, KD could actually extend our window, if JB is genuinely going to test the UFA waters he will get a max deal that we can't match. The obvious downside is KD is old and will be playing into his late 30's on a massive deal. But given the deals being handed out these days, it's not insane -- I mean, would you rather have KD or Beal at $50m per?

If we can give up little more than JB plus spare parts (theis? PP?), and maybe only one late 1st, I think you seriously have to consider it for the talent upgrade. Tatum+KD is a ridiculous offensive combo, and will allow Tatum to operate with more space. Horford+Rob man the C spot, which lightens their loads. Obviously we have a hole at SG but tbh this is the easiest position in the NBA to fill with decent quality. Or just go with Smart+White for some lockdown perimeter D. Or maybe Nesmith or Pritchard makes a leap.

With these reports that JB might leave in two years, you have to consider it, yes. It really depends on how much we give up...

When the Celtics eventually trade for KD I predict he'll play no more than 60 games a season and the team will get no farther than an ECF appearance. By year 3 Tatum will request a trade.
