Dragic looked totally cooked with the Nets. His injury problems aren't like broken hand or dislocated shoulder. He has a chronic knee that he wears a huge brace on. I don't think he solves anything other than 4th guard for most teams.

It’s the new trend. Get your money and then request a trade.

Next CBA will be a bloodbath. I'm not even putting all the blame on either side, actually they deserve each other for everything.

Take the Durant example, has 4 years left on a deal where the ink was barely dry.

Well, the Nets knew and know he's a front running diva that signed there to try to win a ring with another diva -- Kyrie. Once the Harden situation exploded in their faces (another diva, only at least KD tries on the court) they should have traded all these clowns.

Durant can request a trade and put it out there that he did. But what's his leverage? He can essentially threaten to play badly, or not try and it's very hard to no pay a player if they are showing up and playing. But like A.D. and Harden it can get bad quickly. His real leverage is the CBA itself, which makes NBA contracts guaranteed (almost bullet proof 100%, guys like Gilbert Arenas and Larry Sanders both got paid, 1 in jail and 1 who told them straight up he hated basketball and wanted to smoke weed and play Xbox all day). It's the only pro sports league with guaranteed deals AND a salary cap. In the NFL there's a cap, but you can cut a player at almost any time (signing bonuses are pro-rated), in baseball there's no cap and deals are guaranteed.

Somehow the owners have **** themselves by having the worst situation. Even if they prove KD isn't trying and withhold game checks it doesn't actually help them win or sign players because he's eating 35% of their cap.

At this point, assuming the player actually has positive value, the team pretty much has to trade them, but loses quite a bit of leverage because if KD ends up in New Orleans he can just pull the same act and leave them screwed trying to make up for what they gave up.

Anyway, all this is to say it's not sustainable for team building. As players get more and more post millennial we'll see this more as these bitchmade social media starved infants don't get everything they want handed to them. Next CBA is going to be a total warzone and I don't expect the owners to get **** so hard. They're asking players to fulfill their contracts and come to work, they'll go to ground with numerous examples of the players doing the opposite. We got the amnesty clause with the last big CBA, which addressed having a max cat get injured severely and having that sink your franchise by having 30% of your cap devoted to nothing. I see something similar but to address this new problem directly.

1. MLB has guaranteed contracts.

2. Which Larry Sanders are you referring to. I can only think of the Celtics’ “Satch” Sanders.

1. Yes. But no cap, so who cares? It's just Dolan's money which I'm happy to burn. So in the case of Amare, once he was cooked and taking wine baths and converting to the Old Testament you just cut him and pay him. MLB has no cap and deals are 100% guaranteed so at least you aren't totally pumped if a super max player blows his achilles, assuming your owner can spend.

He quit the NBA at 26 and still got paid.

Utah just pulled off one of the 5 most lopsided trades in modern NBA history. Turning one of the 3 worst contracts in the league into infinite picks, a replacement defensive center on a rookie scale deal and 3 reasonable contracts (maybe Vanderbilt is negative value). If Mitchell can't see that then he's a clown and an idiot. They weren't winning anything of significance with Gobert's inability to do anything against a switch on offense, being played off the floor in the playoffs and with him taking up 31% of your cap.

Vanderbilt is the best valued contract they received but yes they got great value in return for what they gave up

Y’all are gonna see real regular season ugliness when the Jazz are supposed to play without Gobert tonight this year.

What I was saying yesterday. They moved the guy who he didn’t want to play with and who was crippling them as far flexibility during to his contract and they acquired pieces that can use to still remain competitive while also having the assets to make a big move or two in addition to what they have. Doesn’t make sense to move him now

They also got rid of his two best friends on the team and from what's been said it was Minn who called and kept calling and were being aggressive for the Gobert trade.

True, i was just bringing up how they traded away the two guys he was best friends with on the whole team since it was brought up how they traded away a guy he didn't get along with is all. I don't think they thought about Spida in any way before doing either of those deals. They just got the right offers, which Ainge always seems to do, and made their team better with assets.

Even if Kyrie & Durant aren't likely to become Knicks there are lots of pieces that may need homes as part of those deals, Simmons, Harris, Kuminga, Poole....

That deal is cute but do you think any of those players scream out 'yo come join me on the Nets?' . Probably not.

That kind of deal makes the Nets a middling team. Still a Big drop from Harden/KD/Kyrie to what theyd end up with.

I think Ainge might actually do that thing being reported, he wants to hold onto DMitch now that he has a stack of picks to help build with. He'll tell Spyda to be patient with one tanking season and by next season he'll have more pieces around him again but tailored to his style of play.

It was business decisions and they also needed to open up roster space to take on multiple players for Gobert. What I was saying is people just assumed Mitchell would want out because they traded Gobert when I see it opposite now. He has more reasons to want to stay now versus if they didn’t make those moves. Whether they did it for him or not is irrelevant what’s relevant is that they did it.

Are the Warriors trying to drive up the price of the Suns offer? Might be the case and are just bluffing

Nba careers or any pro sport career is short, nobody is just going to waste a year of their career with the idea they will tank for a year nor do pro athletes think that way

But I'm told by people like you that with the Knicks all the FO has to do is tell the team to lose so tank and *poof*, they'll do it... are you now telling me this isn't the way it works?
